Job Summary

PolicyLab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is seeking a Policy Analyst to join our policy team. PolicyLab is a research center within CHOP’s Research Institute that aims to achieve optimal child health and well-being by informing program and policy changes through interdisciplinary research.


Help deliver on PolicyLab’s mission by supporting the development and execution of its cross-cutting policy agenda, and ensuring the center is a recognized resource to external stakeholders, particularly regional state leadership. This position will work collaboratively with the health policy director, policy team, and PolicyLab’s communications team to advance the center’s strategic aims and identified policy priorities.


The Policy Analyst will manage the development of content and implementation of agreed strategies to deliver on the center’s cross-cutting/longitudinal policy priorities, track the priorities of regional state leadership and support on being responsive to them, conduct policy analysis to support initiatives across the center, and provide rapid response capacity across PolicyLab’s areas of interest.


The Policy Analyst position is ideal for a policy professional with a background in state health policy and demonstrated experience writing for a policy audience, and provides the opportunity to further develop skills in policy analysis, strategy, and understanding of the research environment. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience related to Medicaid reform and innovation, health care delivery innovation, and state health policy. The position reports to the Health Policy Director.

Job Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Health Policy Director to identify and deliver cross-cutting/longitudinal policy priorities - manage the necessary content development and convenings; support on implementation of stakeholder strategies, relationship-building, and outreach.
  • Work closely with Health Policy Director to identify regional state level priorities that relate to PolicyLab’s research interests and expertise, and work closely with team members and researchers to be responsive to opportunities.
  • Provide necessary analysis and writing capacity for special initiatives.
  • Provide technical writing capacity for PolicyLab to be responsive to rapid response opportunities.
  • Conduct other duties as assigned

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations
Required Education and Experience

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree


Required Experience:

  • Five (5) years of health policy experience
Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Education: Master’s degree


Preferred Experience:

  • Seven (7) years of health policy experience
  • Three (3) years of writing experience
  • Three (3) years of experience in research related environment
  • Previous experience working on Medicaid/CHIP, payment and delivery reform, or state health policy
Additional Technical Requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of health policy.
  • Advanced proficiency with policy analysis.
