Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

The purpose of this position is: Provide electrical maintenance support for manufacturing operations and facilities.

This position includes significant duties such as:          

  • Perform installation (bending and running conduit), preventative maintenance and repair of all plant electrical system.
  • Have knowledge of 3 phase systems (delta, wye connections)
  • Assist in preventative maintenance and repair on process and facility equipment.
  • Assist in facility upkeep including inside repairs and outside grounds.
  • Purchase equipment, tools and repair parts not in stock with supervisor approval.
  • Assist Maintenance Supervisor and Engineering in the design and equipment specifications for any required electrical work.
  • Know and comply with all safety standard operating procedures while working on the process equipment or electrical work.
  • Proficient in working with blueprints, schematics, sketches, and other forms of equipment documentation.
  • Working knowledge of all hand tools, electrical test equipment such as multi- meter, megger, phase meter etc.
  • Have a working knowledge of all NEC and other applicable codes.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Working Conditions: Some issues with fumes, noise, oil, dirt, heat and cold temperatures. At times must be able to exert a force of 36 to 100 pounds and lift 5 to 50 pounds. Ability to use ladders and work at heights above 6 feet.

Education: High School Diploma, Electrical certifications.

Licenses & Certifications: Electrical License and/or Electrical Certifications

Experience:  3-5 years of electrical experience.
