We are currently looking for two full-time Certified Physician Assistants to join the Montefiore Nephrology Faculty Practice team. The PA will work as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team including attending nephrologists and outpatient dialysis healthcare providers to assess, evaluate, treat, and coordinate care of outpatients to living with end stage kidney disease who are receiving dialysis. 


Medical services rendered by the PA will include assessment of patients during dialysis treatments, prescribing and adjusting the dialysis prescriptions, reviewing and renewing medications, and addressing acute medical issues arising during dialysis treatments. The PA will perform annual history and physical exams of patients, and refer patients to other specialists as appropriate. The PA will work closely with the multidisciplinary caregivers in the dialysis unit to facilitate communication when patients are hospitalized and to reassess and patients upon return to the dialysis unit after a hospitalization. The PA will also facilitate admission of new patients by performing history and physicals, reviewing medical records, and placing orders for medications and dialysis. 


The PA will be an integral part of the dialysis unit's multidisciplinary team and will be an active participant in education and quality improvement initiatives in the unit. The PA will work closely with attending nephrologists and the medical director of the dialysis unit, who will provide support and backup for the PA, including rounding at intervals with the PA and ensuring continuing education.
