Job Summary

The Phlebotomist I – SAT performs blood and general laboratory testing studies ordered by the respective physicians; performs delegated clinical and administrative duties in a medical support role within the supervising physician’s scope of practice.

  

Job Responsibilities

  •  Performs venipuncture and capillary phlebotomy while following established procedures.
  •  Performs basic laboratory testing (for example: urine dipsticks, hemoglobin A1C, and  sure step glucose.)
  • Follows National Patient Safety Goals 100% of the time for Hand Hygiene and patient identifiers.
  •  Must respond to work demands with a minimum of error and should be able to perform the essential duties assigned. Responsible for realizing that the patient is the most important individual and that quality of the interactions with patients is always of primary concern.
  •  Performs assigned clerical duties including but not limited to answer, screen, and respond to incoming calls.
  •  Identifies own learning needs and obtains necessary education to meet requirements of position.

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: High School/GED

Required Experience: One year of experience as a phlebotomist

Additional Technical Requirements

  •  Ability to work with computer programs and computer controlled equipment.
  •  Ability to handle and interpret data, multitasks, and maintain confidential material.
  •  Good phlebotomy technique and practice.
  •  Good communication, technical and organizational skills.
