Provides support to the pharmacist in delivery of pharmaceutical care in compliance with all Federal/State laws and regulations. Works effectively and cooperatively within the workplace. Location/Department specific tasks and competencies may apply. Essential Functions Maintain accurate records and documentation related to all medication activity, including, but not limited to purchasing, inventory, preparation, distribution, administration, charging, waste, and / or return. Accurately prepare and dispense medications and Sterile Products, including Hazardous Drugs, that are safe for patients of Skagit Regional Health. Clean pharmacy equipment, utensils and work areas. Perform routine inspections of medication areas, and ensure all medications are appropriate for patient use. Deliver and restock medications and related supplies to appropriate patient care area in a timely manner, and consistent with Skagit Regional Health policies. Maintain operational knowledge to accurately refill and manage Automated Dispensing Devices. Consistently and accurately document all medication transactions and ensure all medication dispensations are consistent with regulatory requirements and Skagit Regional Health policies. Ability to account for all medication distributions, and only distribute medications, under the supervision of Pharmacist on duty. Immediately report all potential, or suspected, medication diversion to Pharmacy Management. Must provide excellent customer service and maintain patient focused care and display professional and positive attitude during every interaction. Gather patients' medication history through direct interaction with patients, patients' families, retail pharmacies, and other healthcare providers. Ability to adhere to posted schedule, which may include overtime, weekends, holidays, extended shifts. Actively engage in organizational and departmental initiatives. Attend and actively participate in all department, team and/or committee meetings. Complete all learning requirements when assigned and within the assigned date. Maintain current licensure and/or certification as required. Proactively develop and maintain skills relevant to providing high quality patient care and regulatory compliance. Maintain knowledge of, and comply with, all Skagit Regional Health policies and procedures. Promptly report regulatory deficiencies, with supporting evidence, to Pharmacy Management. Other relevant duties as assigned by management or supervising Pharmacists, may include hazardous medication transport to Skagit Regional Clinics. Operates a motorized vehicle in a professional and respectful manner, being careful to obey all traffic laws, consistent with the laws of Washington State. Education High School diploma or GED required. Completion of Pharmacy Technician training program, with Sterile Compounding didactic and practical training, is highly preferred. Experience/Training Twelve months of prior hospital experience is preferred. Prior experience with Sterile Compounding, including Hazardous Drugs, is highly preferred. Knowledge of Pharmacy Purchasing, including 340B, is highly preferred. License/Certification Current Washington State Pharmacy Technician certification required. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Health Career Association (NHA) Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) is preferred. Current Washington State Driver's License and automobile liability insurance required if transporting medication. Other Qualifications Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Must be able to effectively utilize Microsoft Office applications to perform work. Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills required. Must be able to effectively prioritize workload amongst frequent interruptions with competing priorities. Knowledge of the healthcare environment required. Operational knowledge of Automated Dispensing Cabinet (ADC) preferred. Ability to coordinate work schedule with requirements of position (may include overtime and weekend work).
