SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for a variety of duties to assist in the preparation and packaging of medications, distribution and delivery of medications, supporting the maintenance of proper inventory levels, and keeping appropriate records and documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a pharmacy technician training program is preferred .

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Requires knowledge of pharmacy work routines, procedures, materials, terminology, and medication names.

Requires skills for accurate drug preparation and pharmaceutical compounding, following Standard Operating Procedures. Requires the skills to read and understand instructions, and basic math skills. Requires interpersonal skills to interact with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to obtain, verify and exchange information.

Required Licensure, Certification, On-going Training:

Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certified required.

Work Experience:

Six months of previous hospital experience preferred.

Machines, Tools, Equipment:

Requires the ability to use and maintain computers and technology used for drug ordering, storage, preparation and dispensing procedures. Supports inventory management of pharmaceutical and related supplies.
