Central Regional Hospital (CRH) is currently recruiting for 2nd shift Pharmacy Technicians.The primary purpose of this position is to assist a pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical services to the patients of Central Regional Hospital, R.J. Blackley and Whitaker PRTF. The pharmacy technician work is a skilled one and provides primary support in processing, preparing and filling medication orders within the Central Regional Hospital Pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician will operate several different pharmacy computer systems to complete assigned duties. All work is performed under the direct technical supervision of a pharmacist and done primarily in the pharmacy and on the nursing PCUs.

Work schedule: This position is second shift (1pm to 9:30pm), providing additional and emergency coverage for first shift (7am to 3:30pm or 8am to 4:30pm) and third shift (9pm to 7:30am). Initial training will be during first shift. Weekend hours may differ, and responsibilities include working selected holidays recognized by the State of North Carolina. This position is considered MANDATORY during adverse weather events, which will be discussed in detail during the interview process. This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package, including health insurance and retirement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified applicants must possess and application clearly reflect education/work experience that clearly demonstrates the following:

High school diploma required.

Must have an active Driver's license.

Previous experience as a pharmacy technician.

Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the NC Board of Pharmacy is required prior to start of employment.

Knowledge and able to operate standard computer software.

Knowledge and able to operate pharmaceutical technological automation software (Carousels, Outpatient Robots, Bar-Code stations, Automated Tablet Counting machines, Automated Dispensing Units (i.e. Omnicell, Pyxis) and Secure Vault).

General knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology, pharmaceuticals used on formulary, and general operations of the pharmacy.

Ability to meet daily and monthly deadlines, and be an effective communicator.

ADA requirements will be discussed in detail during the interview process but requires mobilityto move about the hospital with ability to stand on feet for several hours per day. Must be able to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds.

Management prefers applicants who have passed the certification exam for pharmacy technicians or completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program and one year of recent experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital pharmacy. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Completion of an accredited nine-month Pharmacy Technician program; or High school diploma or General Educational Development diploma and one year of pharmacy-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some positions may require certification as a Pharmacy Technician.
