Description
Prepares and delivers medications to patients and/or nursing units under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner. Demonstrates the ability to competently work in general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice.

+ Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals, to improve patient outcomes.

+ Process insurance claims, and initiate prior authorizations.

+ Participates in the training of new employees.

+ Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.

+ Ability to work independently and as a team with minimal supervision.

+ Policies and procedures are followed consistently.

+ Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.

+ Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician scope of practice to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as needed.

+ Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment

+ Uses appropriate systems for processing of patient information.

+ Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.

+ Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.

+ In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

+ Position Compensation Range: $15.00 - $22.89 Hourly

Position Compensation Range: $16.64 - $25.79 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent

Experience: no experience required.

License/Certification: Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required within 6 months of hire. CPhT credential through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required required within 6 months of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20lbs.
