SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a Pharmacy Tech to join our Community Pharmacy team. This position is full-time with benefits, 80 hours per pay period, day/evening shift, and every 3rd weekend. This position will float to cover shifts in Green, Shapiro, Red and Specialty Pharmacy.

$5000 Sign-On Bonus

A sign-on bonus is available for eligible external candidates (contract/temporary workers and former employees returning to HHS within one year are ineligible). One year work commitment required.

Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist performs a variety of technical and clerical duties allowed by law. Foster and maintain a positive image of the pharmacy within the hospital and in the community.

Required COVID-19 Vaccinations for Employees

Hennepin Healthcare will begin requiring employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This includes all employees, volunteers, students, and contracted staff, with limited exemptions for medical or religious reasons.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Answers phones for the pharmacy department and directs calls to appropriate personnel

* Maintains knowledge of the Hospital Credit and Collection Policy and other related policies

* Prepackages, prepares, labels and hands out prescriptions after they are checked by a registered pharmacist

* Maintains cash registers, credit card machines and reporting for cash transactions

* Prepares daily deposits for the cashier's office

* Bills and credits patient medications

* Stocks inventory in Pharmacy

* Routinely checks and removes outdated and expired medications

* Delivers medications to patient care and ancillary areas and picks up new orders as scheduled

* Files prescriptions and reports

* Maintains the pharmacy in a clean and organized fashion

* Enters outpatient prescriptions

* Obtains and records patient drug histories

* Triages orders, determines priorities, processes orders and notifies the pharmacist as appropriate

* Performs various calculations to determine the correct dose using weight

* Identifies the appropriate product to process based on the prescription order

* Triages insurance rejections and initiates prior authorization claims as needed

* Uses appropriate pharmaceutical-medical terms, abbreviations and symbols

* Maintains a working knowledge of general chemical and physical properties of drugs

* Compounding medications as per Minnesota Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations

* Responsible for safe and careful handling of chemotherapeutic medications

* Assist with other duties as assigned but only after appropriate training

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/ Work Experience:

* High School Diploma or GED
* Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or a 240 hour employer based Technician training Program or 1,000 hours of Pharmacy experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Computer skills
* Knowledge of Pharmacy computer systems.
* Insurance and Billing Experience

License/Certifications:

* Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with MN State Board
* PTCB or ExCPT pharmacy tech certification within 1 year of date of hire, paid for by employee.

OR

* Current Intern License with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy
