The Pharmacy Technician providessupportive Pharmaceutical tasks for the Pharmacy Department; maintains an optimal level of pharmaceuticalinventory through application of effective purchasing procedures with theappropriate contract vendors; develops and maintains external contacts whichinclude medical service representatives from pharmaceutical companies, medicalsupply companies, professional peers from other Kansas hospitals, local retailoutlets, programmers from pharmacy computer support system and state andfederal certification inspectors; adheres to department policies and procedures which conform to state,federal and TJC regulations; performsspecific activities required to properly handle medications in a timelymanner; assures accurate delivery ofneeded medications; displayscomprehensive knowledge of, and conforms to, hospital policies and proceduresas well as state and federal pharmacy regulations; maintains required compliancedocumentation; promotes positivecustomer relations and actively contributes to a supportive and cooperativework environment; protects health and safety of staff by proper handling ofchemicals and drugs; and performs otherrelated duties as assigned. The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist inpreparing and distributing medications. The Pharmacy Technician works only under the supervision of a registeredpharmacist. They do not perform dutiesthat can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.



Job Requirements:

Education Required: High School Diploma/GED

Experience Required: 6 months pharmacy technician experiencepreferred, but not required

License/Registration: Must possess a Kansas Pharmacy Technician license issued by the KansasState Board.

Must also be a nationally certified pharmacy technicianthrough the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 6 months ofhire.
