Job Details:

The Pharmacy Supervisor, PV1 Operations will be responsible for overseeing specific areas of pharmacy services, programs, and personnel and is responsible for provision of all facets of pharmaceutical care related to patients/consumers of the pharmacy services.

The Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for ensuring safe, timely, efficient, compliant, and productive workflows in the operational and service areas in their areas of oversight and may be responsible for the direct supervision of any combination of pharmacy technicians, pharmacy learners, pharmacists, or support staff who work within their scope of responsibility. Specific responsibilities of the Supervisor will be documented and retained internally by the Department of Pharmacy. Project management, oversight and involvement will range from independent work on small projects, to leading teams on large scale changes. Projects may involve departments external to pharmacy and the Pharmacy Supervisor will work with other teams/departments to ensure that the activities and contributions align with priorities and timelines for the organization. The Pharmacy Supervisor will be required to use advanced communication and project management skills to lead quality and efficiency improvement efforts. All responsibilities are accomplished in collaboration with the pharmacy leadership team, including the Director of Pharmacy and the Sr. Vice President of Clinical Operations.

Responsibilities

Operational Supervision and Optimization

* Oversee daily PV1 operations. Supervise and lead the provision of safe, timely, efficient, equitable, effective, and patient-centered pharmacy services.

* Hold staff accountable to standards of the department. Responsible for understanding, compliance, and participation in Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement, and accreditation guidelines ensuring achievement of excellence in quality patient care.

* Serve as the liaison to coordinate compliance and regulatory issues for areas of responsibility.

* Support PV1 clinical pharmacy workflows and practice expectations through operational planning.

* Develop and/or maintain policies and procedures for the PV1 department in collaboration with the pharmacy leadership team.

* Identify opportunities to redesign systems of oversight to maximize performance (i.e.: labor and operational efficiency).

* Review reports and records for medication errors, adverse drug events, and/or ineffective service, taking appropriate corrective action.

* Identify and deal with personnel issues in a proactive and timely manner, with appropriate follow-up to improve performance.

* Manage labor expenses to the agreed upon department budget.

* Manage employee leaves of absence and family medical leaves.

* Ensure staff competency via training, competency assessments, and other means.

* Work with staff on an ongoing basis to attain their professional development goals by directing, coaching, and supporting.

* Lead and develop pharmacists. technicians, and support staff to be eligible for and attain available professional certifications and recognition of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

* Participate in the recruitment, interviewing and hiring of staff.

* Coordinate and lead team meetings/huddles.

* Lead initiatives to identify gaps in training knowledge and areas for staff performance improvement.

* Oversee the development, documentation, provision, and preparation of training information, ensuring that materials are updated and prepared to meet the training needs for all pharmacy staff

* Lead the training of staff on application specific training and updates

Project Planning and Leadership

* Participate in department's strategic plan development and execution of assigned goals.

* Identify and develop business cases for operational services based upon anticipated future needs, operational advancement, and organizational priorities.

* Participate and/or lead, as pharmacy representative, organization quality improvement initiatives/projects.

Organizational Involvement

* Serve as a pharmacy team liaison to interdisciplinary team members for areas of responsibility.

* Participate as a member of pharmacy department in multidisciplinary team and committees.

* Actively participate in pharmacy professional organizations.

Teaching/Scholarship

* Serve as preceptor and/or advisor for pharmacy learners.

Direct Patient Care (staffing)

* Works under the responsibilities outlined in the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist position description up to 30%.

* Rotates through the pharmacy on call schedule.

Other Duties

* Participate and perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

* Participate in Quality and Performance Improvement.

* Participate in review of Safe Medication Practices.

Skills & Abilities

* Knowledge of state laws and federal regulations pertinent to pharmacy.

* Ability to work in a complex team environment and to collaborate with both external and internal professionals and other customers.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Computer skills - word processing, spreadsheets, pharmacy software, and databases. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of MS Office software, including Excel, Word and Outlook.

* Knowledge of healthcare information systems and pharmacy automation and technology.

* Teaching experience with nurses and clients preferred

Qualifications

* Must be a currently licensed registered pharmacist with the Department of Professional Regulations and State Board of Pharmacy. PharmD Preferred.

* Two years of experience in pharmacy community health services or specialty pharmacy that includes responsible experience in patient clinical management

* Pharmacy licensure in state of operations. Multiple state licenses preferred and likely required.

* Two to five years of experience in leadership roles, including management of direct reports.

* Demonstrated clinical expertise in Specialty Therapies.

* Certification in Specialty Pharmacy, highly preferred and required after 1 year

* Must complete 15 CEUs yearly. At least 10 annual CEU's will be required to be dedicated to supporting our core therapies and the remaining 5 can be used to address mandatory requirements within the support of specific state requirements
