Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Pharmacy Resident, you will participate in routine age appropriate drug therapy monitoring and provision of pharmaceutical care, including medication histories, basic pharmacokinetic monitoring, discharge counseling, and preparation of and dispensing of medications. You will serve as a resource person for medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff. You will also direct and participate in the research/development of new services, systems and skills within the Department of Pharmacy and the presentation of results at local, regional and national pharmacy meetings.

* You will coordinate technical staff assigned to work in his/her areas
* You will maintain a competency in dispensing pharmacy practice, computer skills, as well as the maintenance of and further development of clinical pharmacy skills and pharmaceutical care
* You will be responsible for the promotion of rational age appropriate drug therapy and monitoring in their areas
* You will continuously monitors clinical and distributive pharmacy systems and makes improvements as needed
* You will assume authority, accountability and responsibility for the formal and informal direction of others
* You will demonstrate the ability to create, initiate, and integrate new concepts and practices to improve patient care and/or employee satisfaction
* You will perform drug therapy monitoring, patient consultation and other activities associated with the provision of pharmaceutical care
* You will obtain competency and provide documentation of proficiency in pharmacokinetic monitoring and medication adjustment for selected drug categories according to area of specialty
* You will provide training for staff pharmacists and assigned pharmacy students in pharmaceutical care activities
* You will provide of continuing education opportunities for pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals through presentations and in-services
* You will participate on hospital committees, professional organizations and/or community projects as assigned

What qualifications you will need:

Education

* Graduate of an American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) accredited school of pharmacy

Licenses and Certifications

* Current Pharmacist license with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) or Board eligible; Must be licensed with TSBP by October 1st
* Member of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists
