Pharmacy residency training is an organized, directed, accredited program that builds upon knowledge, skills, attitudes and abilities gained from an accredited professional pharmacy degree program. The first-year residency program enhances general competencies in managing medication-use systems and supports optimal medication therapy outcomes for patients with a broad range of disease states. The second year residency allows specialization for a pharmacist in the area of oncology, critical care or transplant with further refinement of skills directed at patient care, literature review, presentations and research. Residents must be committed to completing the educational goals and objectives established for their respective residency program
Residents must seek constructive verbal and documented feedback that directs their learning
Residents must be committed to making active use of the constructive feedback provided by residency program preceptors.

Position Qualifications Include:

Required
Resident applicant qualifications will be evaluated by the residency program director through an established, formal procedure that includes an assessment of the applicant's ability to achieve the educational goals and objectives selected for the program. Further, the criteria used to evaluate applicants must be documented and understood by all involved in the evaluation and ranking process.
The resident will be a graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited Pharmacy program
A PGY1 resident must have a technician license for the state of Illinois to start the program, if not fully licensed as a pharmacist in the state of Illinois.
The applicant must be licensed, or be eligible for licensure, in the state of jurisdiction in which the residency program is conducted. Resident must be fully licensed in the state of Illinois within 90 days of start date. Consequences of failure to obtain appropriate licensure is addressed by a Department of Pharmacy policy. Second year residents must have successfully completed a first year residency, which must be verified with a certificate from the PGY1 residency on the first day of the PGY2 residency
Residents must participate in and adhere to the rules of the Resident Matching Program (RMP) process and participate in the application process through PhORCAS.
