JOB SUMMARY:Assists in the procurement function of department, under the supervision of the director or licensed pharmacist. Will also assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory and supplies, receiving, sorting, and stocking medications and supplies.Bills and credits medications to patients.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEssential Job Duties Place daily and restock vendor orders for pharmaceuticals and supplies in timely manner Review and check accuracy of all orders and requisitions Review contract pricing and report any price discrepancies to Director Coordinate all product returns with wholesaler or vendors Accurately stock ADCs in a timely manner Complete monthly medication inspections as assigned and ensure medication integrity and appropriate documentation Maintain stock levels at established levels to avoid stock out and adhere to contracts and formulary requirements Maintain proper records of purchase orders, returns, outdated medications, recalls, and inter-hospital transfers Follow proper process for handling of controlled substances and report any variances to Supervisor or pharmacist-in-charge Process pharmaceutical invoices and other billing receipts or purchase orders in timely manner Communicates effectively with coworkers to ensure understanding of customer needs and activities. Seek costs savings opportunities and identify purchasing area of improvement and assists in the preparation of physical inventory. Actively participates in team meetings and often offers suggestions on how to improve the services provided. Qualifications:PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time. Adheres to scheduling requests of the department Adheres to the Customer Service Standards of the facility while representing the organization in a positive and professional manner. Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department and complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. Utilizes computerized punch time system correctly. Completes annual education requirements and maintains regulatory requirements. Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean and wears identification while on duty. Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion and has not missed any mandatory in-services. Attends staff meetings annually, is responsible for information presented at monthly staff meetings that he/she is unable to attend. Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; College preferred. Experience: 2 year of experience as hospital experience required Certifications:CPhT and Texas Registered required;IV Certified preferred LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Additional languages preferred. SKILLS: Basic computer knowledge required.
