Job Summary: Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy Operations, the Pharmacy Manager is responsible for leading and managing comprehensive pharmacy services in key centralized areas of the pharmacy, as determined by hospital needs. The Pharmacy Manager will serve as the hiring manager for the clinical pharmacists in the centralized areas of oversight. Other key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: staff development, team building, workflow optimization, compliance with all state and federal standards, and the development of pharmacy-related policies/procedures and guidelines which promote medication safety, appropriate use of medications, formulary compliance, cost-effective practice, and optimal patient outcomes.

Essential Responsibilities:

* Practices pharmacy in accordance with laws, rules and regulation of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy, Department of Public Health, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and Drug Enforcement Administration and in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures. Maintains credentials in accordance with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy.
* Collaborates with the Director of Pharmacy Operations and Pharmacy Leadership to develop and implement pharmacy programs and services in support of the pharmacy mission and strategic plan.
* Provides leadership and direction to the Pharmacy Team/s; Manages staff resources to ensure staffing plans (pharmacist team schedule) meets departmental and patient care needs. Responsible for performance evaluations; staff training and development; team building; recruitment; vacation/leave approvals; disciplinary matters and other related personnel management duties.
* Serves as a pharmacy leader and active participant in hospital committees as needed.
* Works collaboratively with other health care providers and the pharmacy team members to develop and maintain a sound formulary system to support evidence based pharmaceutical care and cost-effective drug utilization. Develops and implements policies, guidelines, standard operating procedures and other related practice documents.
* Serves in a leadership role in the development and management of educational and training programs for the pharmacy staff, pharmacy residents, students and other health care professionals. Coordinates competency assessments, career ladder evaluations and other staff development programs.
* Promotes positive relations and actively contributes to a supportive work environment. Fosters a team environment within the department and effective inter-disciplinary collaboration.
* Plans efficient and effective utilization of resources.
* Maintain expertise and up to date knowledge in appropriate specialty practice area, providing consultation with other health care professionals as appropriate.
* Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews. Direct Reports: More than 7 Indirect Reports: 6-10
* Assists in planning, monitoring and/or managing budget in functional area of department.

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required. Doctoral degree in Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred.
* License Massachusetts Pharmacist required.
* 3-5 years related work experience required and 0-1 years supervisory/management experience required
* Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

* PGY-1 or Pharmacy Administrative Practice Residency.
* Board Certification in Related Practice.

Physical Nature of the Job:

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move through out the hospital campus
