Position Description Empath Health is currently seeking a Pharmacy Inventory Specialist (Pharmacy Technician) to join our team. If you are compassionate, motivated and interested in making a positive impact in your community, you will find a rewarding career at Empath Health.The Pharmacy Inventory Specialist is responsible for inventory maintenance for the Empath Health Pharmacy. The inventory Specialist will ensure that the pharmacy inventory is adequately monitored and maintained to fill all orders initiated in a timely manner. Will also provide subject matter expertise and train staff as deemed necessary.1. Manages all day to day inventory operations under the supervision of the Pharmacy Purchaser.2. Manages all pharmacy automation equipment to ensure inventory is stocked at appropriate levels, system generated counts are accurate, and inventory is pulled from stock per policy when recalled or nearing expiration. 3. Reviews all inventory orders for purchasing as well as stocks all acquired inventory daily.4. Monitor BOH levels with a focus on high cost items to ensure inventory is being utilized or returned to the wholesaler within the contracted period to avoid restocking fees. 5. Returns overstock, damages, expired drugs to the appropriate vendor at all pharmacy locations.6. Assist with the stocking of the automated dispensing cabinets. 7. Communicates with Staff Pharmacist and other staff in determining the availability of drugs in stock as well as drugs not part of inventory. 8. Inputs information regarding new drugs or makes changes as necessary to keep the system updated. 9. Monitors Empath Health Pharmacy inventory for overstock and, if necessary, pulls drugs from inventory and returns them to the vender/wholesaler. 10. Checks the shelf life of Empath Health Pharmacy inventory and takes appropriate steps to prevent inventory from expiring. Pulls expired drugs from inventory and returns to wholesaler or ships to disposal agent. 11. Processes drug recalls by pulling recalled drugs from Empath Health Pharmacy inventory, returning them to wholesaler or disposal agent. 12. Follows defined process for inventory documentation and updating inventory records. 13. Escalates issues and/or changes in the day to day activities regarding the inventory in conjunction with the Pharmacy Purchaser. This may include problems/changes with online ordering, drugs in stock, shipment of drugs for patients, discontinued drugs, and backordered drugs. 14. Provides training as appropriate to new employees and ongoing training to current employees to ensure appropriate execution of duties and tasks regarding the inventory. 15. Monitor progress in obtaining wholesaler source rebates adjusting purchasing practice as necessary. Ensure source generics are ordered when the rebate cost represents an overall savings for the pharmacy. 16. Position Requirements • Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or equivalent and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.• Licensure: Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred and able to be registered as a pharmacy technician• A minimum of 1 to 2 years' experience in a pharmacy setting with combined hospital inpatient / outpatient pharmacy experience preferred• Excellent customer service, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required• Detail oriented with the ability to enter information accurately on paper and into a database system• Excellent computer skills• Develops a working knowledge of pharmacy dispensing regulations and pharmacy data systemsApplicants provisionally accepted for employment will be required to undergo a fitness for duty evaluation.
