Education & Experience

BACHELOR'S DEGREE OR PHARM D FROM AN ACCREDITED SCHOOL OF PHARMACY; EXPERIENCE CANNOT BE SUBSTITUTED FOR EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED: LICENSED AS A PHARMACIST IN MISSISSIPPI

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE LICENSE

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE OF DRUGS AND THEIR INDICATIONS, CONTRAINDICATIONS, DOSING, SIDE EFFECTS, AND PROPER ADMINISTRATION. KNOWLEDGE OF POLICIES AND PROCEDURES PERTAINING TO THE DISBURSEMENT OF PHARMACEUTICAL DRUGS. SKILL IN THE USE OF PERSONAL COMPUTERS AND RELATED SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS. VERBAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS TO INTERACT WITH A WIDE RANGE OF CONSTITUENCIES. THE INCUMBENT MUST MAINTAIN GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF APPROPRIATE MEDICATIONS FOR VARIOUS AGE POPULATIONS OF UMMC-GRENADA: NEWBORN, PEDIATRIC, GERIATRIC, ETC. THIS POSITION REQUIRES THE FULL UNDERSTANDING AND ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN FULFILLING THE MISSION OF UMMC-GRENADA. THE EMPLOYEE IS EXPECTED TO DEMONSTRATE BEHAVIOR CONSISTENT WITH UMMC VALUES. THE EMPLOYEE SHALL SUPPORT UMMC-GRENADA'S STRATEGIC PLAN AND THE GOALS AND DIRECTION OF THE PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT PLAN.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING PRESCRIBED MEDICATIONS AND OTHER PHARMACEUTICALS AS NEEDED FOR PATIENT CARE WHICH INCLUDES COMPOUNDING, DISPENSING AND LABELING OF DRUGS, INTERPRETING AND EVALUATING PRESCRIPTIONS, HANDLING AND STORING MEDICATIONS.
* ACTS AS A CONSULTANT TO MEDICAL AND NURSING STAFF AS NEEDED AND MAINTAINS PRESCRIPTION RECORDS AND ANY OTHER ACTIVITIES INCLUDED IN THE PRACTICE OF PHARMACY.
* PERFORMS ACTIVITIES ACCORDING TO PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS IN COMPLIANCE WITH ESTABLISHED POLICIES AND PROCEDURES OF THE HOSPITAL AND WITH FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL REGULATIONS GOVERNING PHARMACY OPERATION AND HANDLING OF MEDICATIONS.
* THE DUTIES LISTED ARE GENERAL IN NATURE AND ARE EXAMPLES OF THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PERFORMED AND ARE NOT MEANT TO BE CONSTRUED AS EXCLUSIVE OR ALL-INCLUSIVE. MANAGEMENT RETAINS THE RIGHT TO ADD OR CHANGE DUTIES AT ANY TIME.
