Position Summary:

Reports to the Assistant Director of Pharmacy for the assigned area. Is responsible for working collaboratively with the health care team to promote wellness, maintain current health, or intervene in acute or chronic illness. Promotes the safe and effective use of medications by consulting with other health care professionals concerning problems and instructs patients and families on their medications.

Education:

Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy resulting in Pharm D. or BS degree. Completion of an ASHP accredited residency program or equivalent experience is desired.

Education:

Minimum of one year of hospital experience with responsibility for the supervision of pharmacy personnel is desired.

Licensure/Certification:

Current licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Maryland required.

Intravenous (IV) Certification (includes aseptic technique and hazardous substance handling) within 90 days upon hire.

Knowledge/Skills:

Requires comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, and drug information.

Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills required for effective communication with patients and other health care providers. A high level of analytical ability is required to research and evaluate drug information, interpret patient specific data, and resolve problems regarding medication use. Committed to teaching, mentoring, and coaching students, residents and pharmacists.
