Position Summary

Pharmacists at Vidant Medical Center are committed to the safe and effective use of medications through maximizing drug distribution and optimizing drug therapy outcomes; educating patients, providers, and ourselves on best practices; and fully integrating pharmacists into the continuum of care. Pharmacists report directly to a designated Pharmacy Supervisor based on area of practice.

Minimum Requirements

College degree plus other schooling. B.S. or PharmD in pharmacy is required.

Must be Licensed in North Carolina prior to start date or within 30 days of hire.

Hospital experience is preferred.

Maintains active NC pharmacy license and provides proof of renewal prior to December 31 annually.

Preferred Requirements

* Hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
* Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY1) is preferred.

Other Information

We are currently recruiting for a pharmacist to join our Pharmacy Operations team. This pharmacist will be an integral member of the central pharmacy team, working primarily day shift with up to approximately 25% second shifts per schedule and every 3rd weekend.

Successful candidates will join a team of experienced pharmacists that ensure safe and effective use of medications by providing optimal drug product selection, dosage regimen design, effective administration and drug therapy monitoring. The integrated electronic health record (EPIC) is utilized throughout the system for medication review and order verification. The central pharmacy is also responsible for the production of hazardous and non-hazardous sterile products, non-sterile product compounding, medication dispensing, inventory, and automation. Most drug distribution is automated, using medication carousels and unit-based automated dispensing cabinets.
