We are looking for a part-time Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy team! Santa Cruz Valley Regional Hospital is in beautiful Green Valley, Arizona, 25 miles south of Tucson. Schedule: 29 hours or less per week

Day Shift: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including holidays and weekends

Position Summary:

Carries out the daily operations in administering the pharmacy program and services. Responsible for the filling and dispensing of medication orders, including the proper handling, usage and storage of drugs in the Pharmacy. Maintains standards set forth by the department and translates policies and procedures into daily operations.

Major Duties:

Carries out the day to day functions of the pharmacy programs.
Responsible for the filling and dispensing of medication orders, including the proper handling and storage of drugs in the Pharmacy.
Responsible for acting as an information resource to patients, physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy and drug-related information and literature.
Provides a coordination effort, in conjunction with the medical staff and nursing, in the delivery of quality and cost-effective drug therapies to patients.
Will attend any clinical rounds with pharmacy data ready and available to nursing staff and physicians.
Maintains and demonstrates a competency to provide pharmaceutical care to patients of all SCVRH of all relevant age groups.
Proficient at providing IV admixture services to the patients of SCVRH. (Small volume, large volume, total parenteral nutrition, chemotherapy products, etc.)
Proficient and competent in warfarin dosing, TPN dosing and aminoglycoside/vancomycin dosing.
Assists in the evaluation of new drugs, including cost/benefit analysis.
Supervises and works with certified pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, pharmacy director and volunteers.
Assists with Pharmacy &Therapeutics Committee activity and formulary development.
Develops strategies and programs to effectively manage pharmacy expenses and the pharmacy benefit.
Provides pharmacy expertise to SCVRH staff as it relates to pharmaceuticals and hospital pharmacy practices.
Carries out the policies and procedures for effective management of the pharmacy that support organizational requirements and comply with Federal, State and Local laws.
Assists in the monitoring of the financial performance of the department.
Ensures the maintenance of pharmacy systems to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data required to support reporting and analytical requirements.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Preferred Qualifications:

Current, unrestricted State of Arizona Pharmacist license
Experience in hospital pharmacy preferred but not required
BS, Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred
ASHP-accredited residency preferred.
Strong communication skills: ability to read, write and speak English
Must possess basic computer skills
