Assumes overall responsibility for the supervision and coordination of all pharmacy activities related to pharmacy services in the outpatient (retail) pharmacy). These may include, but are not limited to, quality control and assurance, processing and dispensing of medication prescriptions, controlled substance management, pharmaceutical inventory, supervision of technicians, and counseling to patients.
15%Directs pharmacy technical staff engaged in compounding, packaging, and labeling of pharmaceuticals.
5%Answers questions and provides information to staff and patients on drug interactions, side effects, dosing and storage of pharmaceuticals.
30%Reviews medication order(s) issues by qualified prescribers, to ensure accuracy clinical necessity.
10%Responsible for quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
10%Screens patients and provides eligible immunizations, upon review of eligibility.
15%Actively leads Meds to Beds discharge prescription program.
10%Provides medication counseling as requested and in accordance with state laws/standards.
5%Ensures pharmacy submission claim data is accurate and appropriate.
*Required Minimum Qualifications:*
Education: Bachelor of Science (Pharmacy) or PharmD
Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in Community/Retail Pharmacy
Licensure, Registration, or Certification: Licensed to practice Pharmacy in Ohio.
Completion of ACPE Accredited Immunization training program (APhA, Pharmacy Association Sponsored, or Pharmacy School Curriculum).
