**Accountabilities / Responsibilities**

+ Considered medicine experts and will be a liaison with other medical staff on problems patients may experience when taking medications, providing advice on the dosage of medicines and the most appropriate form of medication, including route.

+ Checking ordered medication to ensure that there are no errors and that they are appropriate and safe for the individual patient. Verifies that information on the medication is complete and accurate before dispensing.

+ Orders, receives, and maintains inventory of drugs and chemicals, and ensures their security within the facility.

+ Participates in patient rounds, taking patient drug histories and involvement in decision-making on appropriate treatments. Discussing the patient's medication treatments with both the patient and support person.

+ Enters data in computer system/EMR, recording all the medications, purchase orders, requisitions, and disbursements.

+ Maintains flexibility with scheduling and job assignments in order to cover patient needs. Ability to work in multiple hospital units.

+ Fosters a positive and professional hospital environment by interacting with all persons in a considerate, helpful and courteous manner and by participating as a team member.

+ Participates in committees, work groups, and meetings as deemed necessary. Can demonstrate measurable results an meet target dates. Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team and takes part in shared leadership.

+ Prepares IV and other complex treatments, under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, delivers medications to patient care areas after the pharmacist has checked it, and retrieves pharmacy bins from the patient care units.

+ Utilizes Individual goals and KPI models to measure and report on performance improvement.

**Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

+ Licensed to dispense pharmaceuticals in the state of Arizona required.

+ Minimum of two year of experience in corresponding setting required.

+ BLS required and ACLS required or obtained within 90 days.

+ PALS certification required or obtained within 90 days.
