Pharmacist Consultant

Location : Remote

Hours: 12:30 pm - 9:00 pm EST / Monday - Friday (May be located in any time zone and support EST hours). May require some weekend rotation

The Pharmacist Consultant is responsible for supporting disease management and wellness programs and physicians' care plans through drug therapy evaluation and consultation for program participants.

How you will make an impact:

+ Provides evaluation of member Rx needs and therapies through review of medication history to determine if medications are appropriate.

+ Assesses member compliance with plan through direct contact with members and their physicians.

+ Determines potential barriers to compliance and identifies solutions to overcome barriers.

+ Ensures that members understand appropriate use of current prescriptions.

+ Educates members on possible duplicate therapies, interactions, adverse effects and ineffective therapies.

+ Evaluates use and impact of non-prescribed supplements on therapy and counsels members as appropriate

+ Reviews medications with physicians when therapies do not meet national standards and counsels physicians around alternative medications.

+ Serves as a resource to clinical team in disease management, wellness, and other clinical areas.

+ Works collaboratively with Nurses, Health Educators, Dietitians, and other health professionals

+ Maintains and enhances positive relationships with clients and responds to a wide variety of pharmacy-related questions

+ May conduct research when needed to respond to member or physician inquiries and may be assigned to special project work, such as conducting in-service training or developing applicable protocols

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

+ Current, unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of practice.

+ RPh and minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a licensed pharmacist; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. PharmD preferred

+ Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.

+ This opportunity is for 2nd shift 12:30-9pm EST M-F. (May be located in any time zone and support EST hours). May require response during non-standard hours. Weekend rotations may be required.

+ Experience working with members and providers on optimizing medication regimens to balance Evidence Based Medicine and personal considerations is required

+ Strong research and analytical skills as well as communication skills (both written and verbal) is required.

+ Ability to document/type while counseling and viewing clinical or other references is required

+ Ability to multi-task is essential

+ Experience with direct patient counseling or education is required

+ Must be able to attend full-time dayshift training Monday through Friday for up to one month upon hire.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

+ PharmD preferred.

+ Call center experience and/or telephonic counseling/coaching preferred

+ MTM and/or CDCES Certification a plus.

+ Board Certification is a plus

+ Fluent and bilingual in Spanish (or another language) and English is a plus

+ Knowledge of managed care, pharmacy benefit management and integrated health systems is preferred
