Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center, a planned 341,000-square-foot acute care hospital, will enhance an already vibrant network of primary and specialty care providers across Lancaster County. The new hospital will feature 129 private inpatient beds, an emergency department, physician offices, various specialty inpatient services, an imaging lab and complete medical and surgical capabilities. Expanding this footprint will help ensure residents of these communities have access, quality and choice of care as close to home as possible.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This job is responsible for serving as a pharmacy team leader and developing and maintaining clinical expertise. An incumbent is the department representative for Pharmaceutical Services and participates in departmental and hospital programs directed at improving patient care standards. Provides education, mentoring, and coaching for staff development, residents, students and interns. Provides direction and solves problems for pharmacy and communicates actions with department managers. Oversees all clinical activities of the department for all Staff Pharmacists. Attends multidisciplinary committee meetings at the discretion of the Pharmacy Director. Assists with pharmacy residency program in conjunction with the Residency Program Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

Graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy, including completion of Pharmacy Practice Residency and/or Specialty Residency or equivalent experience.

Postgraduate education and training.

Didactic courses and experiential rotations in pharmaceutical care.

Must complete a PGY-1 Residency.

At least 300 hours of direct patient care drug therapy within the last three (3) years

Licensure as a registered pharmacist by the PA State Board of Pharmacy.

Pharmacist preceptor certification.

Membership in at least one of the following professional organizations: ASHP, ASCP,ACCP and specialty practice group(s).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

Doctor of Pharmacy degree or post-graduate degree in pharmacy is strongly preferred.

Board Certification in Pharmacology Specialty (BPS) recommended, but not required.
