Summary

Pharmacist at MLHS are responsibe for clinical pharmacy services under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager, including performing direct clinical pharmacy services and compounding and dispensing medications and other pharmaceutical supplies, while adhering to laws and regulations relating to preparing and dispensing such.

Job Duties

The essential functions of this job are identified with an asterisk (*) at the end of the bullet point.

* Accurately Fills LTC and Employee prescriptions using QS1 system.*
* Accurately enters Inpatient and Outpatient orders on HMS system.*
* Evaluate therapy for optimal patient outcomes while ensuring medication safety.*
* Preparing IV's:*

o Follows handwashing procedures always.

o Uses correct aseptic techniques always.

o Prepares IV's with acceptable speed & without error.

o Properly Disposes of Chemo waste always.

o Properly labels chemo with required chemo labels always.

o Uses safe preparation technique always.
* Accurately fills Individual orders for Inpatients and Outpatients.*
* Performs compounding of medications.*
* Checks all medications prepared by pharmacy techs.*
* Evaluates all med orders for appropriateness, contacts provider with any questions.*
* Adheres to laws and regulations relating to preparing and dispensing medications.*
* Foster an environment of teamwork with other department staff and customers*
* Works with providers and nurses to provide safe and effective drug therapy, answering questions and offering assistance.*
* Act as a primary resource for nursing staff on the proper administration of drugs.*
* Assists employees with employee prescriptions, insurance issues and OTC requests.*
* Clearly communicates with providers, nurses, pharmacy staff and patients to insure safe, effective drug therapy.*
* Understand and be able to use/stock Omnicell machines in an efficient manner .*
* Monitors Use / Inventory control of controlled substances.*
* Correctly signs out controlled drugs always.*
* Follows correct procedures for returns and waste of controlled drugs always.*
* Controlled drug discrepancies are reported and resolved always.*

Other Duties

* Registered Pharmacist in the State of Minnesota.
* Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary for the provision of appropriate clinical Pharmacy services.
* Computer literacy.
* Must successfully complete criminal background check as required by the State of Minnesota.
* American Heart Association BLS certification required.
