JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Toews lab (davetoews.com) in the Department of Biology at Penn State, University Park, is seeking a field technician to assist with bird banding and sample collection. The candidate will work with postdoc, Marcella Baiz, and other members of our research team to capture, band, and collect data from wild wood warblers. This work will support several ongoing research projects in the lab involving hybridization, speciation, and the gut microbiome.

The position will involve outdoor work, which will be conducted in central Pennsylvania and may also involve travelling to distant field sites. Bird banding experience is required, and experience working with/taking biological samples for genetic analysis is preferred. This is a temporary, position that will run ~26 May-14 July 2022 (exact dates TBD).
