Job Title: Forklift Operator (Order Assembler Shipper)

JOB SUMMARY: Operates a radio-equipped lift truck to stack or remove palletized glass or corrugated material from storage.


• Checks palletized material prior to placing it in stock, for proper packaging, palletizing, and adequate descriptive information such as size, weight and quantity.

• Maintains neat and orderly stacks of palletized material.

• Breaks down and restacks material when necessary to prevent damage.

• Receives written instructions for withdrawal of material and locates material in storage locations.

• Breaks down stacked material to obtain specified articles by size, wall weight, article number, poundage, etc.

• Positions material for transfer to production areas, other storage locations, or shipping points and checks to verify that all material ordered is properly accumulated.

• Rechecks loads prepared by mark up man, proportions truckloads keeping track of weights as ware is loaded.

• Manually palletizes material when necessary.

• Advises Shipping Coordinator of information pertaining to relocation of material, and empty locations.

• Loads and unloads trailers, moves empty pallets and performs other lift truck operating duties aligned with warehouse operations.

• Responsible for accuracy and completeness of loads.

• Maintains necessary production, work activity and lift truck maintenance reports.

• Operates a towing tractor, hauling flat bed trailer trains of finished ware, tubing multi-packs, cartons and other materials between production areas of plant and warehouses, keeping production operations properly serviced.

• Follows direction of Shipping Coordinator for locations of tubing, finished goods and other miscellaneous material.

• Hauls empty trains of flat cars to drop areas and returns with loaded trains to and from production and warehouse areas.

• Secures tickets from loads as necessary to maintain count of ware in warehouse areas.

• Turns in records as directed.

• Checks tractor for proper operation and general condition; reports malfunctions or repairs needs to Foreman.

• Maintains work area in proper housekeeping condition, observes safety requirements and performs any other duties assigned.
