Corning Optical Communications LLC (Fort Worth, TX) seeks Optical Measurement Engineer. Designing, building & automating optical systems for active & passive fiber optics products, & developing & implementing software for measurement systems used in the telecommunications industry; developing appropriate measurement methods & calibration test procedures; collaborating with technology team to determine the performance of future fiber optic products; establishing measurement uncertainty for test equipment & systems; testing fiber optic connectors & cables; designing, developing & executing new product test programs; developing tools for data analysis; documenting test methodologies & test results; & developing & implementing methodologies to optimize measurement performance. Up to 5% domestic and international travel (Mexico, Poland, Germany, China). Requires Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Optics, or Physics, with concentration or coursework in fiber optics. Must have prior experience with or academic exposure to: configuring & operating optical metrology equipment (e.g. Optical Spectrum Analyzer, polarization controllers, Tunable light source, detectors); analyzing data acquired from optical metrology equipment; using NI Labview software for equipment communication, data acquisition, & data processing; & interpreting product specifications & performing measurements on fiber optic components, including optical filters, collimators, connectors & fiber optic cables.
