HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER PHARMACY has an outstanding opportunity for a FULL-TIME OPERATIONS LEAD PHARMACIST - INPATIENT (Rotating/Variable Shifts). The Operations Lead Pharmacist (Pharmacist 4) will assist the Inpatient Operations Manager with the implementation and evaluation of pharmacy services.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Coordinate the scheduling for staff assigned to area if required.
* Direct the operation of the assigned area in the pharmacy department.
* Direct the work of pharmacy staff assigned to the work area or shift including pharmacists, interns, and pharmacy technicians.
* Participate in pharmacy staff development including new employee orientation and training. Assist in developing training materials for staff.
* Develop, review, and update policies and procedures for the assigned area.
* Actively resolve issues identified with daily operations and works with other departments to solve service-related issues when identified.
* Provide oversight for new program development for the assigned area.
* Coordinate the documentation and reporting of program activities and quality assurance for regulatory and accreditation agencies (Joint Commission, Department of Health, and Board of Pharmacy)
* Detect, document and report adverse drug reactions and medication errors. Assist in developing safe medication practices to prevent errors.
* Ensure the assigned pharmacy area is secure, orderly, and in a sanitary condition.
* Perform the duties of a Pharmacist II.
* Perform related duties as required.

SPECIALIZED FUNCTIONS:

* Arrange coverage for inpatient pharmacy including sick calls on weekdays, provides weekend on-call coverage on a rotating basis, and staffs in the inpatient pharmacy as needed
* Engage in continual inpatient process improvement through gathering feedback from staff and optimizing processes
* Coordinate and collaborate with the purchasing team to assess and manage inventory cost effectively for inpatient pharmacy and for secure storages areas where medication inventory is available outside of the pharmacy's direct oversight. This includes, but is not limited to: ambulatory clinics and procedural areas
* Serve as the content expert for Clinic Administered Medications (CAMs), Operating Rooms, and Ambulatory Procedure Areas (APAs) and problem solve
* Understand and optimize operating rooms and procedural area processes and procedures
* Attend weekly drug shortage meeting and coordinates, communicates, and executes medication changes affecting daily operations REQUIREMENTS: Three years experience in pharmacy practice. Months spent in the completion of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists accredited residency training program may substitute month-for-month for the experience.

LEGAL REQUIREMENT: State of Washington Pharmacist license.
