Position SummaryThe University of New Mexico NCI-Designated Comprehensive CancerCenter (UNMCCC) and the Division of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and PreventiveMedicine, Department of Internal Medicine at the UNM School of Medicine (UNMSOM) invite applications from Ph.D. Biostatisticians to join an outstandingteam of faculty in biostatistics who are engaged in statistical methodology relevantto cancer and in biostatistical applications integrated with basic,translational, clinical, and population science research. This senior facultyposition is open to candidates with substantial experience who havedemonstrated an ability to contribute to clinical cancer research and clinicaltrials design, as evidenced by a history of peer-reviewed publications andinvolvement in grant supported research projects. Preference will be given tothose with experience in studying modern clinical trials approaches, includingadaptive and Bayesian methods, and in designing and conducting such trials. Successfulcandidates will have an academic faculty appointment in the Department ofInternal Medicine at UNM SOM, membership in the UNMCCC, and will join theUNMCCC Biostatistics Shared Resource, which is highly engaged in the Center's Multidisciplinary Clinical Working Groupsfocused on the development and prioritization of cancer clinical trials andcorrelative studies and in the cancer clinical trials infrastructure andregulatory committees (Clinical Protocol and Data Management, Data Safety , Protocol Review and Monitoring System, and Early Phase ClinicalResearch Support). They will be expected to conduct independent researchand/or collaborate with cancer-focused physiciansand scientists in the UNMCCC. Salary will be commensurate withexperience and education. Significant resources, including excellent salariesand comprehensive start-up packages are available. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: 1. PhD in biostatistics/statistics or a closely related field; and 2. Demonstrated evidence of contributions to science throughpeer-reviewed publications and grant-supported research projects; and 3. Must be eligible to work in the U.S. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Expertisein modern clinical trials methodologies and applications; 2. Demonstratedability to develop collaborations with investigators from multiple disciplinesin areas of oncology research emphasis; 3. Highimpact methodological orientation; 4. Strongpotential for a funded independent research program; and 5.
