POSITION SUMMARY
The pharmacy department plays an integral role in the healthcare team at East Alabama Medical Center, Spencer Cancer Center and East Alabama Infusion Center. The Oncology supervisor ensures the safe and effective use of medication by providing medication order verification while assessing for optimal drug product selection, dosage regimen design, effective administration and drug therapy monitoring services. The pharmacist accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current EAMC policies and procedures and is the Pharmacist in Charge of record for the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy. The pharmacist is responsible for leading efforts in the prevention and reporting of medication errors and adverse drug reactions according to policy and works to continuously improve process and practice in the institution to enhance safety of medication therapy. This pharmacist must maintain competence in all aspects of current clean room operations, aseptic techniques, and pharmacy standards including the safe handling of hazardous medications according to USP chapters , .
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education
Graduate of accredited school of pharmacy
Minimum Experience
Completion of PGY-1 Residency or 3 years of oncology related experience
Required Registration/License/Certification
Alabama pharmacy license or ability for licensure within 3 months of hire.
Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist within 1 year of hire or eligibility
Preferred Education
Completion of PGY-2 Oncology Residency
Preferred Experience
5 or more years of oncology related experience
Preferred Registration/License/Certification
Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist
