Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) is committed to providing quality care to those in the community. The SCCA Oncology Pharmacy team provides extensive pharmaceutical care to inpatient and ambulatory patients. In addition to direct care, pharmacists participate in drug therapy consults, conduct clinical research protocols, provide patient/family/staff education, and precept pharmacy students and residents. SCCA combines the adult and pediatric oncology patient care services of three world-renowned cancer care institutions UW Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and Seattle Children's Hospital.

SCCA has an outstanding opportunity for a FULL-TIME ONCOLOGY PHARMACIST, located at SCCA at Overlake Medical Center in Bellevue, WA. The Oncology Pharmacist (Pharmacist 3) is responsible for providing direction and leadership to pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students, and pharmacy residents who provide pharmaceutical care to patients in an oncology infusion setting. The Oncology Pharmacist will lead the development and maintenance of safe, timely, efficient, equitable, effective, and patient-centered pharmacy patient care services.

The Oncology Pharmacist will be responsible for performing all duties of a Pharmacist 3, in addition to medication safety/quality, residency preceptorship, advancing and optimizing pharmacy practice, planning and project management for professional staff. These responsibilities are accomplished via a collaborative effort as a member of the pharmacy management team. The scope and complexity of the position requires successful incumbents to possess a diverse and highly developed skill set including but not limited to: time-management, communication, creativity, vision, teamwork, clinical knowledge base/skills, mentorship, change management, scholarship and teaching.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Implement and monitor, with the healthcare team, patient medication therapy for achievement of desired therapeutic outcomes
* Maintain accurate medication profiles for patients
* Manage and lead the provision of safe, timely, efficient, equitable, effective, and patient-centered pharmacy patient care services
* Collaborate with pharmacy managers to ensure safe, timely, efficient, equitable, effective, and patient-centered ambulatory pharmacy operations
* Assist in the development and/or maintenance of patient care services and operational policies and procedures
* Prioritize multiple tasks and projects to ensure timely completion. Delegate and assign work commensurate with knowledge skill, experience, and ensure the work is performed appropriately
* Stay knowledgeable of current clinical issues, industry practice standards, and accreditation standards and incorporate them into daily practice
* Act as a resource and consultant to physicians, nurses, and patients regarding potential adverse reactions, interactions, and proper use and administration of drugs dispensed
* Actively participate and provide support as needed to leadership and quality program staff to ensure activities related to the institutions quality improvement activities. Maintain priority focus and ensures these activities are effectively executed
* Direct the work of pharmacy staff assigned to the work area or shift including pharmacists, interns, and pharmacy technicians
* Assist in developing training materials for staff
* Actively resolve issues identified with daily operations and work with other departments to solve service-related issues when identified
* Provide oversight for new program development for the assigned area
* Coordinate the scheduling of pharmacists
* Ensure the pharmacy meets regulatory and accreditation agencies (Joint Commission, Department of Health, and Board of Pharmacy) requirements
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

DESIRED:

* Expertise in oncology pharmacy.
* Outstanding verbal and written communication skills (English language required)
* Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Knowledge of educational and experiential methods, with teaching experience preferred; the minimum expectation is a desire to provide quality educational experience
* Prior experience in ambulatory oncology clinic
* BCOP certification REQUIREMENTS: Two years of experience in pharmacy practice. Months spent in the completion of an American Society of Health System Pharmacists accredited residency training program may substitute month-for-month for the experience.

LEGAL REQUIREMENT: State of Washington Pharmacist License.
