PeaceHealth is seeking a Nursing Student - Obstetrics for a 0.9 full time equivalent Non-Exempt position. This position will be working Variable shift with shift durations of 12 Hours.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for administering patient care that meets nursing standards.  All job duties are performed in a manner that demonstrates PeaceHealth’s values of caring, respect and professional excellence toward patients, families, visitors, physicians, co-workers and volunteers.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Prioritizes, requests and accepts guidance and assistance from others to assure delivery of care in a safe and timely manner.  Identifies problem solving within authority and ability; promptly (within shift) notifies supervisor of situation beyond scope of authority.  Does not attempt to do procedures for which he/she is not qualified.
  2. Develops and implements patient specific care plans and education as required by unit. 
  3. Addresses age-specific needs of individual patients.
  4. Maintains multi-disciplinary communication to provide high-quality patient care.  
  5. Develops plan with unit manager to complete all competency requirements. Ensures own professional effectiveness through continued education and professional development.
  6. Documents patient care, interventions and responses/actions in the patient care plan with accuracy, timeliness and legibility to ensure continuity of care.
  7. Assists in the transporting of patients, specimens, supplies and equipment and in the maintenance and stocking of supplies and equipment to assure optimal functioning of the department.
  8. Department safety and maintenance is ensured in a manner consistent with the hospital and department policies and procedures.
  9. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of an accredited State Board of Nursing approved nursing program.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Must have the ability to work efficiently and responsibly in an environment with multiple work demands and short time frames.  Commensurate with educational preparation demonstrates knowledge of and ability to apply age-specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient's needs for nursing care. Computer knowledgeable.

 

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Temporary Registered Nurse license in AK.

 

 

REGION/LOCATION SPECIFIC NOTES

  • Temporary permit will be invalid once results of the board examination are issued to the licensing board. 
  • Unsuccessful completion of the board examination invalidates all position criteria including position and wage.  The applicant may choose to apply for other positions qualified for until successful completion of the board exams and permanent licensure is obtained.
