JOB PURPOSE:

Assists the Director of Pharmacy in ensuring that the pharmacy provides superior services, exceeds all legal, accreditation and certification requirements, and follows all applicable policies, procedures, codes and standards of the hospital for the storage and preparation of pharmaceuticals. Ensures that patient care remains uninterrupted 24 hours per day/7 days per week. Responsible for management of pharmacy staff including scheduling and performance evaluation and improvement. Oversees and monitors all daily unit dose operations and all daily IV room and OR/ICU Satellite activities. Performs all duties of a Staff Pharmacist as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Graduate of an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy with a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Pharmacy.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Three years of hospital pharmacy experience required. Previous experience and/or training in the general use of pharmacy computer systems required.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:

Licensed as a registered pharmacist in State of Georgia.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Management experience preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists the Director of Pharmacy in applying hospital policies and procedures for the storage and preparation of pharmaceuticals.

Assists the Director of Pharmacy in ensuring that the pharmacy provides superior services, exceeds all legal, accreditation and certification requirements, and follows all applicable policies, procedures, codes and standards of the hospital.

Responsible for management of pharmacy staff including scheduling and performance evaluation and improvement.

Ensures that patient care remains uninterrupted 24 hours per day/7 days per week.

Ability to meet the pharmaceutical care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, acute care, psychiatric, oncology, obstetric, chemically dependent, rehabilitation and skilled-nursing patients.

Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in-writing.

Skill and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.

Knowledge of current DNV standards.
