Responsibilities Job Duties: Provide technical support in obtaining, verifying for accuracy, and recording initial medication histories from patients and/or their designated family/caregivers upon presentation to Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital and patient care areas. Includes: Conducting patient and/or family interviews focused on obtaining current medication regimens including prescription and over-the-counter (non-prescription) medications, as well as vitamin and herbal supplements for dosing, frequency and indications. Able to clarify as many uncertainties as possible utilizing patient and family caregiver information, ambulatory pharmacy records, clinic records, long-term care facility records, and information from previous hospital encounters. Accurately listing the medication in the electronic medical record for review by a pharmacist. Is responsible for relaying any issues that cannot be addressed by the technician to the pharmacist and/or physician. Accepts all other duties and responsibilities as appropriate to skill level and as described in the Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital Technician job description, and as assigned. Critical Skills: Able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with local providers, patients, and families. Has the ability to reach a goal or perform a task with little supervision or He/she accepts responsibility for his/her conduct, actions, and decisions. Utilizing teamwork and innovation, he/she will look beyond the obvious and doesn't stop at first answers when problem solving. He/she uses logic to recognize courses of action to be taken to handle day to day problems or potential problems/opportunities and applies contingency plans to solve the problem and communicate the proposed solution in a concise manner Demonstrates high attention to detail; and uses resources effectively and efficiently. He/she uses his/her time effectively and efficiently; values time, and concentrates his/her efforts on the more important priorities. Has the ability to handle multiple tasks, and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Schedule: Monday through Friday 12pm-8pm, no weekends. About the Facility: Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital is a joint venture between Universal Health Services and Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine. The 128 bed facility will feature Lancaster County's only dedicated inpatient unit for adolescents, as well as a dedicated women's trauma unit, for sexual-assault victims or women with a history of traumatic injuries because of domestic violence. Opened in mid-2018, the hospital will also offer day-treatment services for adolescent, dual-diagnosis, older-adult, and substance-abuse patients. Pharmacy automation includes EPIC and Omnicell. CPS® has partnered with the hospital to manage the day to day operations of this pharmacy. This position is an employee of CPS®. About the Pharmacy: The pharmacy is open Monday-Friday from 7:00am-5:00pm, Saturday/Sunday from 8:00am-12:00pm Qualifications Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED Recent experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy CPhT certification (preferred) Proficient computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office Effective communications skills; verbal and written Hospital Requirements: (PPD) TB Skin Test - Proof of negative TB skin test within the last 12 months Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible to participate in our 401(k) program with an employer match as well as for the EAP (employee assistance program), as well as healthcare, dental and vision options amongst other benefits.
