Description
The Medical Science Liaison, Senior Director (MSL) will be a scientific liaison to the medical and academic communities and will establish and manage relationships with Health Care Providers/Professionals (HCPs) to ensure the appropriate dissemination of clinical and scientific information regarding Decibel's programs in a timely, ethical, and stakeholder-focused manner. This role will design and implement the Medical Affairs strategy and plan. You will be a scientific expert who engages HCPs with data to exchange clinical, scientific, and research knowledge. By following regulatory and corporate guidelines, you will facilitate and build scientific relationships and collaborations with the medical/scientific community as well as support clinical study initiatives (including patient enrollment in clinical trials). You'll interact with local, regional, national, and international HCPs, societies, and organizations. You'll also help to support clinical operations and clinical development.

What you will do:

* Develop and foster effective and trusting relationships with Key Thought Leaders (KTLs) by identifying and engaging other appropriate HCPs resulting in scientific interactions with a large network of providers and opinion leaders; additionally, understand the inter-relationships both within and between academic centers and use this expertise to enhance KTL and HCP engagements
* Collaborate with clinical operations and clinical development to support the recruitment of clinical trials, identify potential new clinical trial sites, and serve as an on-site Decibel resource to study site staff participating in Decibel studies
* Work closely with clinical development and new product planning teams to provide disease area and medical practice expertise for development of strategy, materials, and training
* Execute study enrollment plans and clinical trial site engagement activities
* Establish map of physician and allied health care professional thought leaders to understand physician referral patterns; develop and track KTL engagement plans - identify, develop, and maintain long-term collaborative relationships with KTLs; provide medical/clinical teams with feedback and insights from interactions with KTLs and investigators
* Participate in medical & scientific exchanges within the community including advisory boards
* Respond to and document unsolicited requests for information on Decibel clinical programs
* Facilitate company-sponsored trials and serve as a resource for investigator sponsored trial (IST) proposals
* Facilitate research collaborations with key investigators including helping identify, establish, and manage collaborations
* Represent the company at medical meetings through Medical Affairs' Scientific Booth coverage, abstract submissions and presentations, and other related activities
* Adhere to corporate SOPs and ensure vigilant compliance with relevant legal and regulatory guidelines governing scientific interactions with physicians and healthcare professionals across all activities, including those related to clinical trials, scientific interactions with internal and external groups, and responses to unsolicited requests for medical/scientific information
* Use CRM/Analytics to improve future KTL engagements and manage workload
* Attend designated patient engagement meetings and conferences to compliantly share Decibel science and data
* Present disease education and Decibel data at policy and reimbursement meeting

What you will bring:

* An advanced degree, such as an MD, Au.D., PharmD, or Ph.D. degree in life science; health care professionals with significant clinical experience may also be considered
* 5+ years of MSL experience preferred
* Strong clinical knowledge including pharmacotherapy, treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, medical expert engagement strategies, and FDA promotional guidelines, regulations, and ethical guidelines applied to the pharmaceutical industry is required
* Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen, present scientific information with confidence and clarity, and engage in mutually beneficial scientific exchange
* Experience formulating and implementing plans to achieve strategic goals consistent with the long-term interests of an organization
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
* Experience in rare disease
* Experience in gene therapy preferred
* Experience in audiology, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, neurology, and/or pediatrics preferred
* Willingness to travel frequently (minimum overnight travel of 50%)
* Fluency in Spanish preferred
