Day to Day Responsibilities: 

  • Design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical, electro-mechanical, and opto-mechanical devices as specified by product design and volume requirements
  • Develop fixtures, tools, and machines which will operate in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
  • Develop and perform experiments to validate design concepts and apply them to a production setting.


 Required Skills:

  • Well-developed analytical ability. Should be able to conceptualize solutions and see them through to implementation on a production line
  • Experience running self-directed projects, maintaining timelines, and seeing projects through full life cycle development.
  • Willingness to build, test, and qualify tools and support their implementation on the production line
  • Proficiency in Solidworks and FEA
  • Thorough understanding of fabrication methods, machine shop experience is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of electronic components and principles.
  • 7-10+ years experience in manufacturing and mechanical design


Desired Skills:

  • Experience with laser optics and/or machine vision
  • Experience with motion control software, especially Galil
  • Microfluidic experience, specifically involving small dose dispensing and fluidic handling


Required Education:

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
