Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group):

 

Develop and execute integrated communications strategies and corresponding tactics, tools, messaging and timing to enhance understanding of S&T and its opportunities, communicate and support the achievement of the division’s objectives and priorities, and work to align global employees with the corporation and its businesses. Collaborate closely with internal customers to develop and execute communications plans that inform employees of S&T and company news while helping the internal customer meet their objectives. Internal customers could include, but are not limited to executives, human resources, information technology, global supply management, information security, safety and health, the Emerging Innovations Group, etc. Ensure that communications programs are guided by a unified approach that provides employees with a clear vision of the Corning brand and their role as “ambassadors” for the brand. Write and publish content on S&T Intranet site to ensure accuracy and consistency. Archive collateral to enable consistency of communications and provide a library of material to draw upon. Evaluate and prepare for potential crises and catastrophes that could impact the company’s image and reputation and develop the appropriate communications strategies to mitigate them. Develop content (speeches, award nominations, articles, digital content, etc.), create collateral (including, but not limited to, product information sheets, one pagers), develop presentations, analyze data, and track and interpret trend reports and climate survey data to consistently improve communications tools and approaches. Lead projects, create media briefing documents, facilitate media interviews as required and select and monitor vendors. Track related budgets and appropriate program metrics.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Write, post and monitor content and activities on hallway TV monitors and the S&T Intranet site.

• Collaborate with corporate communications to share story ideas, repurpose content for posting on Corning World Online and coordinating activities.

• Work closely with internal customers to communicate messages across a variety of tools.

• Support external marketing communications efforts as requested

• Collaborate with management to coordinate quarterly communications meetings.

• Engage in executive communications, including writing speeches, leading open forums, and crafting email messages to employees.

• Write award nominations and recognitions for Corning and individual S&T employees as appropriate.

• Inform employees of research reviews, technical reports, invited speakers, communications meetings, employee and company successes, and information sharing opportunities.

• Build awareness of technologies and opportunities in the Emerging Innovations Group.

• Create collateral including product information sheets, print ads, graphics and banners for exhibits.

 

Travel Requirements (please note if international): Very little to no travel requirements.

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: Regular business hours based on 40 hour work week

 

Required Skills (These are skills that candidates MUST possess)

1. Strong written and verbal communications skills, ability to craft messaging, ensure accuracy and consistency in communications, and apply different writing styles per media / per audience.

2. Serve as advisor / expert to help internal customers accomplish their goals, facilitate projects and communicate to employees and stakeholders at all levels of the global organization.

3. Manage large projects from inception to implementation, analyze data, track and interpret web trends and climate survey data to continuously improve communications tools and approaches.

4. Ability to work with different level managers across multiple functions, anticipate challenges, analyze and limit risks and recommend and execute alternate scenarios as required.

 

Desired Skills (These are skills that would be nice for candidates to possess)

1. Ability to create collateral, experience with adobe creative suite (illustrator, photoshop, bridge, in-design, acrobat pro), and graphics design skills.

2. Web content management 

 

Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration) Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years communications experience.

 

Soft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership)

1. Multi-tasking, time management and organizational skills.

2. Web skills, Sharepoint

3. Flexibility to shift as needed when requirements change.

4. Ability to work independently or as a team.
