The primary responsibilities of this role, Manufacturing Sciences, Cell Culture Summer Intern, are to assist their team in the following:


  • Develop general understanding of rFVIII manufacturing processes;
  • Develop deep understanding of upstream cell culture process, especially cell expansion;
  • Apply DOE tools to design experiment to characterize cell growth and metabolism during cell expansion phase;
  • Apply data analysis tools to evaluate effect of lactate on cell growth and metabolism;
  • Look for opportunity for process improvement and provide strategy;
  • Implement proposed strategy if possible.

Required Qualifications:


  • Currently enrolled in a undergraduate or graduate program with a focus in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology or Fermentation.  If an undergrad, must be enrolled in the Junior or Senior year.
  • The role is Monday-Friday, but must be willing to come in on select weekends to take samples.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to deal professionally with internal customers of various organizational levels;
  • Ability to work effectively within a departmental team and with members of the same or higher organizational levels;
  • Good organization, documentation, prioritization and scheduling skills together with an overall desire to learn;
  • Good problem solving and project management abilities together with a professional image;
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task;
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Demonstrated potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and collaboration with others and independent thought.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Previous lab experience preferred
  • Previous Cell Culture, fermentation and Bioreactor experience preferred
  • Aseptic Technique experience preferred
