Description Summary

This position has accountability for new sales growth, client retention, margin contribution and overall performance for a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota (BCBSMN)  Retail Center. The Retail Centers are the member facing storefronts focused on sales, service, education, and community outreach. The sales focus generally consists of the Individual, Medicare, Small Employer, and ancillary insurance products. Retail Centers service all lines of BCBSMN business. This position will have responsibility for driving performance of a Center by meeting enrollment and revenue goals along with continuing to evolve the overall engagement of the Center within the communities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, sales business planning, service training and support, team development, store operations, effective community outreach, and effective collaboration with other company departments to achieve goals.


Accountabilities

  1. Executes on the overall retail center strategy that outlines growth and retention objectives for each key population set. Communicates, educates, and facilitates execution of the expectations to staff. 

  2. Manages assigned facility including coordination with corporate building management team on maintenance, repairs, and proper care. Ensures that retail team has all necessary supplies, technology, and working environment to provide highest levels of service to clients. Maintains appropriate branding and expected aesthetic of each retail center including non-client facing spaces.

  3. Selects, manages, coaches, and motivates retail center staff to achieve and exceed established goals and support development.

  4. Participates in implementation and training of new products and provides feedback on refining current products and pricing offered. This includes feedback on market desires, pricing expectations and competitive evaluations. 

  5. Drives performance management and staff development to maintain a high performing team. 

  6. Works closely with leadership in development of sales business planning, sales forecasting and goal setting.

  7. Oversees proper servicing of our customers to ensure satisfaction, meet required SLA’s and to maximize retention of business. 

  8. Collaborates with internal business partners to ensure market plans are followed and provide feedback as market input dictates. Monitors and identifies improvement opportunities and suggests resource needs and solutions.

  9. Ensures policies, procedures, and strategies are enforced in retail center.


Requirements

 




  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and 5 years of sales experience or 9 years of the same in lieu of a degree.

  • 3 years of sales management experience.

  • Experience of leading a team within a retail or the public facing environment.

  • Strong business planning skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, drive results and excel in a collaborative environment.

  • Proven ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in the face of ambiguity and within tight timeframes.

  • Ability to motivate, mentor and bring change management skills to lead a skilled professional staff, including coaching, performance management, and organizational skills

  • Strong communication and diplomacy skills, including written, oral and presentation skills. 

  • Demonstrated depth of problem solving, positive team leadership, and management experience across functional areas

  • Possess or ability to acquire State licensure to sell health and life insurance products within 60 days of employment.


Preferred Requirements

  • Knowledge of health care industry, local markets, leading edge products, direct and in-direct sales and account management strategies, competitive drivers and best practice design preferred.
