About the Job

Position Summary:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to:

1. The Manager for Pharmacy Regulatory and Infusion Services will have responsibility for maintaining regulatory compliance in all clean room areas as well as infusion center activities and assist the Chief Pharmacy Officer in the development and implementation strategies regarding pharmacy services.

2. The Manager will work with other Pharmacy Leadership Team members to assure compliance with daily, weekly,

monthly and semi-annual federal and state requirements for cleans rooms and the colleagues who work in or near the

clean rooms.

3. Works with other hospital colleagues (e.g. physician, nursing, ancillary staff etc.) to assist in defining policies and

procedures governing the procurement, distribution, and control of medications used within the institution in concert

with the management team and in compliance with applicable state and federal laws.

4. The Manager for Pharmacy Regulatory and Infusion Services will conduct and assist with the development of short

and long term departmental goals and planning, and provide a yearly strategic plan for patient care services which

aligns with and supplements the department, institution and system's overall strategic plan.

5. Provide supervision and guidance in the professional growth and development of the clinical pharmacists and

technicians through timely and constructive feedback; Issue corrective action when necessary.

6. Support clinical and financial performance through coordination of colleague involvement in programs aimed at

improving cost-effective medication use (for patient and Lahey) and improved quality of care.

7. Utilize published literature to maintain regulatory standards and to exceed standards for patient care and productivity metrics for services rendered.

8. Serve as departmental representative on interdisciplinary committees as determined by pharmacy administrative team.

9. Manager for Pharmacy Regulatory and Infusion Services in meeting the goals and objectives of the department of pharmacy services.

10. Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Pharmacy Officer.

11. Promote Lahey Hospital and Medical Center through participation in professional organizations or meetings and conferences.

12. Utilize practice management skills to maintain cohesive, cost-efficient and productive care of patients and relationships with other clinicians.

13. Participate in formulary management, review of medication use processes, and development and implementation of

evidence based treatment guidelines, order sets and protocols through involvement in the Pharmacy and

Therapeutics, and Standing Orders Committees.

14. Develop and participate in programs focused on optimizing patients' therapeutic outcomes through oversight of

therapy plan/treatment plan selection and use for infusion center patients.

15. Provide evidence-based, patient-centered medication therapy management with provider/nursing teams, which may include controlled therapeutic interchange, where applicable.

16. Document interventions and outcomes related to medication therapy management activities in pharmacy and

electronic medical record systems.

17. Provide drug information and education to health care providers and patients/caregivers.

18. Participate as a coordinator of and a preceptor in learning experiences for the Pharmacy Practice Residency,

Ambulatory Residency, and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience student programs.

19. Support the -pharmacy residency program through Steering Committee work, program assessment, recruitment, and

learning experience development in ambulatory care.

20. Incorporates Lahey Hospital and Medical Center Mission Statement and Goals into daily activities.

21. Complies with all Lahey Hospital and Medical Center Policies.

22. Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Hospital and Medical Center .

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy.

Licensure, Certification, Registration: State of Massachusetts Licensed Pharmacist or eligible within 60 days of offer acceptance

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

· Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.

· Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.

· Knowledge of drugs and their indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration.

· Knowledge of requirements for safe and effective practice in haz and non-haz sterile processing as well as haz and non-haz non-sterile packaging.

· Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.

· Ability to design and implement systems necessary to collect, maintain and analyze data.

· Knowledge of policies and regulations pertaining to the disbursement of pharmaceutical drugs.

· Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.

· Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.

· Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.

Possesses skills in empowering the employees to practice teamwork and Lahey Guiding Principles.

Experience:

Completion of at least three to five years in infusion/IV practice inclusive of hem/onc and medical infusion with increasing management experience.

Residency or advance degree (MHA, MBA, MPH) desirable
