Description Summary

This position is responsible for driving the execution and implementation of the distribution channel strategy and broker innovation for Commercial and Government Markets in collaboration with sales, channel and business development leadership. The position will be responsible for defining, launching, and managing the distribution strategy, innovation and partner programs to ensure channel loyalty, engagement, and activity that result in increased market share and profitability of BCBS MN business sold via brokers and agencies/agents. This role will be responsible for defining the components of success in order to ensure we are easy to do business with, clearly communicate our value proposition to clients, distinguish ourselves from the competition, and ensure that our incentives reward “partner” results. This role will be vested in the success of both internal (sales, product, service) and external (brokers/agencies/agents and their respective groups/members) stakeholders and drive initiatives that support mutual goals. 


Accountabilities

  1. Effectively collaborate with key stakeholders and leaders to execute and implement distribution strategies for both Commercial and Government Markets 

  2. Partner with strategic brokers to strategize new innovations and offerings beyond compensation programs 

  3. Develop and implement channel partner programs in an effort to drive broker/agent loyalty and engagement and the technology to support them.

  4. Key stakeholder and driver in the planning of agent events, conferences, and advisory boards.

  5. Expand broker/agent external communications through the development and ongoing support of the channel partner website; and internal communications through clear and concise communications and promotions of strategic initiatives, innovative partnerships, new program rollouts, and broker training launches

  6. Provide resources (tools and technology, reports, services, support) that enable broker/agent to focus on growing their book with BCBS MN 

  7. Increase broker/agent effectiveness by planning, improving, and executing regular broker planning with internal sales leadership and external field teams through agency action planning

  8. Manage BCBS MN’s understanding of channel perspectives through annual surveys 

  9. Track and evaluate status and report to leadership the channel program’s progress and performance 

  10. Working with corporate stakeholders and IT, determine release planning, feature and function definition, incorporating market commitments and other technology enhancements.

  11. Identify issues and work with operations leadership to resolve. 

  12. Own on-going maintenance planning, quality assurance, acceptance testing, and resolution of service inquiries and issues of the innovation and partner programs. 

  13. Manages the department including interviewing and hiring employees following required EEO and Affirmative Action guidelines and ensures employees receive the proper training. Manages employees and is responsible for performance evaluations, coaching, skill and career development, policy administration, performance management and behavior, employee relations and cost control.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, or related field and 7 years of related experience or 11 years of experience in lieu of degree in or a combination of, project management, program development, online or consumer facing business. 

  • 3 years of experience managing a support team.  

  • Healthcare industry experience. 

  • Experience with agent/broker engagement, programs or events 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of IT-related skills and/or experience.

  • Self-directed, ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a timely manner. 

  • Demonstrated conflict resolution, facilitation, and consensus-building skills. 

  • Ability to work effectively and confidently with peers, leadership and senior staff.

  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex business issues. 

  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 

  • Excellent organizational and management skills 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to convey complex ideas simply, through written reports and presentation materials. 

  • Ability to excel in collaborative work environment yet drive organizational change 

  • Understanding of the application development lifecycle, web application development methods and technologies.

  • The individual must possess a unique blend of business and technical knowledge to drive vision to reality

  • A strong ability to work cross-functionally with product, marketing, sales, training, channel management, and operations is key in order to drive and deliver content, tools, processes, and technologies.
