Description
Stanford University is seeking a Life Science Research Professional 2 to perform more complex functions and activities involved in defined research projects, and independently conduct a portion of the research project(s).

About the Position

We are looking for highly motivated individual to join our laboratory to perform technology-driven research in a dynamic and exciting environment.

We are seeking a Life Science Research Professional 2 (LRSP2) to join the group of Dr. Sean Bendall in the Department of Pathology. The LSRP2 will be involved in the in vitro human hematopoietic and immunological cells projects in the Bendall lab. The successful candidate will work directly with the PI (Dr. Sean Bendall) and a team of talented senior staff, trainees, be co-authors on published work, and gain valuable bench and management expertise in our inter-disciplinary group. The LSRP2 will design and conduct experiments independently and analyze/interpret the data on single cells proteomic assays, such as mass cytometry (Cytof) and multiplexed ion beam imaging (MIBI), as well as bulk ATACseq.

About the Lab

In the lab of Dr. Sean Bendall at Stanford (Dept. of Pathology, Wu-Tsai Neuroscience Institute, Stanford Bio-X Institute, and Stanford Cancer Institute), the overarching goal is to understand the mechanisms regulating the development of human systems (both embryonic and adult). We are interested in clarifying the roles of both protein-coding genes as well as pathobiology (disease state or pathogen) known to be uniquely human - therefore, not analogously studied in model organisms. Drawing on both pluripotent stem cell biology, hematopoiesis, and immunology, combined with novel high-content single-cell analysis (CyTOF Mass Cytometry) and imaging (MIBI Multiplexed Ion Beam Imaging) we are creating templates of 'normal' human cellular behavior. Using these we can decipher the roles of protein regulators on cellular specification as well as the influence of human-specific pathobiology on system remodeling at the single-cell level.

We are a highly innovative team collaborating with expert groups in cancer immunology, stem cell biology, and neuroscience. This will be a unique opportunity to learn and grow in research, biotechnology development, and translational applications.
