Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group):

  • Laser process engineer to develop and sustain processes for innovative electro-optical MEMS devices in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Drive cost, quality, schedule, and safety performance utilizing manufacturing systems and tools.
  • Respond to process needs as required which also occasionally include off-shift and on-call support for 24x7 operations.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Provide process sustaining support for electro-optical MEMS laser processes including: laser cutting, scribing, bonding, and drilling.
  • Specify and procure capital equipment for laser processes.
  • Track, analyze, and publish device yield reports.
  • Drive continual process improvement activities to improve yield and capacity.
  • Work closely with equipment and maintenance engineering to troubleshoot issues, develop maintenance plan, and recommend tooling and upgrades.
  • Generate and maintain process documentation.
  • Provide technical support, training, and monitor production personnel.

 

Travel Requirements (please note if international): 10 -15% Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 40+ hours to support 24x7 operation.

 

Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration)

  • BS in Electrical or Chemical Engineering or Material Science or Physics & >3 years experience in semiconductor or MEMs manufacturing in Process, Yield, or Process Integration.
  • MS or PhD in Electrical or Chemical Engineering or Material Science or Physics.

 

Required Skills (These are skills that candidates MUST possess)

  • Experience with laser galvo software (ScanMaster), and laser specific software
  • Deep knowledge of laser parameters such as power, pulse energy, and spot size.
  • Ability to communicate and present technical concepts and analysis in an effective manner.
  • Experience with SPC and DOE.

 

Desired Skills (These are skills that would be nice for candidates to possess)

  • B.S. or equivalent technical degree.
  • FMEA, fault tree and other structured problem solving approaches.
  • Experience scaling from development to high volume manufacturing
