The person in this role will work at either the Medtronic facility located in Rice Creek, Minnesota or the Mounds View, Minnesota location.

In this role, you will deliver advanced hands-on support for infrastructure services and deployments across office, manufacturing, distribution, admin and lab environments. Acts as an expert “hands and feet” resource and ensures infrastructure stability and uptime. Collaborate with others in local and global IT groups in overlapping technologies and provide after-hours support as needed. Traveling to other Medtronic sites as required. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Develops, documents, and configures systems specifications that conform to defined architecture standards, address business requirements, and processes.
Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as being responsible for meeting hardware and software compliance and security standards.
Evaluates the interface between hardware and software, operational requirements, and characteristics of the overall system.
Establishes, documents system design, parameters, and formats, ensures hardware and software systems functionality, performance, and compatibility, and coordinates and/or modifies system parameters in terms of configurations, such as existing and projected computer capacity and capabilities.
Actively identifies system functionality or performance deficiencies, executes changes to existing systems, and tests functionality of the system to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, data integrity, conversion, input/output requirements, and storage.
May document testing and maintenance of system updates, modifications, and configurations.
May act as a liaison and point of contact with key technology vendor technologists or other business functions.
Function Specific: Strategically design technology solutions that meet the needs and goals of the company and its customers/users.
Leverages platform process expertise to assess if existing standard platform functionality will solve a business problem or customization solution would be required.
Gather and prioritize integration requirements.
Test the quality of a product and its ability to perform a task or solve problems.
Perform basic maintenance and performance optimization procedures in each of the primary operating systems.
Technology: Using computational thinking to define technological solutions to real life problems.
Design technology that allows for the optimal user experience and broad accessibility.
Ability to document detailed technical system specifications based on business system requirements.
Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, ensuring needs are heard and addressed promptly, and escalate as appropriate
Be a leadership presence within the team to offer guidance and direction, utilizing advanced knowledge of the site’s infrastructure for the global IT teams.
Provide onsite support for troubleshooting, diagnostics, escalation, and maintenance of infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted IT operations.
Coordinate with vendors for quotations, procurement, and delivery of goods and services; assess and prioritize site-specific or regional demands.
Lead IT efforts for local projects from inception to completion, including evaluating vendor use versus internal resources.
Educate on infrastructure services and capabilities, assist in driving technology adoption, and optimize I&O solutions for efficiency and effectiveness.
Provide level 2.5-3 networking support for routers, switches, Wireless APs, and firewalls.
Possess strong understanding of standard offerings for network, compute, storage, backup and client to assist team in developing solutions and resolving issues.
Be a leadership presence within the team to offer guidance and direction utilizing advanced knowledge of networking, server, backup and other infrastructure activities to virtual global team.
May work with AV teams to understand and offer hands on troubleshooting for video conferencing and large meeting room audio visual equipment.
May lead site-specific or multi-site projects that will drive overall operational efficiencies of the group, including planning, resource allocation and the ability to intersect
Provide guidance related to infrastructure initiatives and act as hands and feet in cooperation with vendor partners.
Assist with installation and maintenance of physical infrastructure assets at assigned locations.
Create work instructions, standard operating procedures and other documentation for effective delegation of activities across groups and resources
Utilize various types of equipment to test, troubleshoot, and identify network problems.
Responsible for onsite logistics of infrastructure assets at assigned sites
Utilize standards for infrastructure deployments to oversee activities of onsite vendors
Maintain existing site infrastructure operations metrics through timely completion of tickets
Expert in troubleshooting complex Level 2-3 issues across global locations.
Provides proactive monitoring and performance tuning for end-user devices.
May lead device rollouts, migrations, and refreshes.
Assists in coordinating IT support for site expansions and infrastructure projects.
Conduct device configuration, deployment, and hardware lifecycle management (installations, decommissions).
Troubleshoot network and infrastructure issues, perform root cause analysis, and guide resolution with Tier 3+ teams; support patching, segmentation rollouts, and security policies.
Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to implement design changes, provide site coverage for infrastructure projects and major incidents, and participate in on-call rotation for health checks and assessments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams within IT and Managed Services Providers to deliver IT services to local and regional businesses.
Manage and coordinate local I&O delivery and implementation of site infrastructure.
Provide onsite support for troubleshooting, diagnostics, escalation and maintenance of local and regional infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted IT operations.
Assess and prioritize site-specific or regional demands.
Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
Provides operational support for the organization's Local Area Networks (LANs); Wide Area Networks (WANs); and Metro Area Networks (MANs).
Monitors LAN, WAN, and MAN performance, maintains security to ensure procedures are implemented and enforced, and troubleshoots problems.
Drives the completion of project milestones.
Communication and Influence: Communicates primarily and frequently with internal contacts.

Contacts others to share information, status, needs and issues to inform, gain input, and support decision-making.

Strongly Preferred:
3+ years of hands-on experience in configuring, deploying, managing and supporting networks, servers, storage and backup solutions.
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Advanced knowledge of networking, device security, enterprise applications.
Working knowledge and proficiency in monitoring & troubleshooting tools
Can execute infrastructure hands & feet tasks, rack, stack, console, cable, etc. without guidance. Has the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve issues with infrastructure equipment
Experience with Cisco, Juniper or Dell products
Reliable transportation or ability to rent a vehicle
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Previous Medtronic experience
CCNA certification or equivalent.
Knowledge of cloud and on-premise data center services.
Experience in managing UPS, power supply and cabling.
Experience in leading or coordinating IT projects.
Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere.
Understanding of cybersecurity concepts.
Experience with audio/visual and unified communications.
Proficiency with SCCM, Intune, PowerShell scripting.
Strong skills in analyzing logs, debugging, and optimizing IT infrastructure.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location.
