A Day in the Life
The VicePresident(VP), InternationalRelationswill serve as aseniormember of the company’s global Government Affairs team, reporting to the VicePresident&Head,GlobalGovernment Affairs.This position willdrive strategicexternalengagementand advocacyon enterprisepolicyprioritieswithgovernmentsand organizationsglobally, including around trade policy. The VP, InternationalRelationswillalsopartner with colleagues in key markets– with an emphasisinChina and parts ofAsia –todevelopand drivepolicy development andrelatedadvocacy toassistMedtronic in achieving its strategicobjectives.The VP,InternationalRelationswill be anexceptionalglobalstrategist andplay an integral role in helping Medtronic continue to build a best-in-class global government affairs organization.
This position is based in Washington, DCand will requireup to approximately25%travel.
Leadstrategic engagementwith keygovernment officials andstakeholdersacross diverse global political and economic systems,includingthe Washington, D.C.–based diplomatic community and U.S. diplomatic missions outside the United States,to advance the company’s enterprise priorities.
Supportengagement andadvocacyinpriorityglobalmarkets– including China and parts of Asia,workingwith colleaguesacross the businesses,regions, andfunctions includingLegal;Health Economics,Policyand Reimbursement;Regulatory;Trade Operations;Supply Chain;and Communications.
Leverageglobalinstitutions and platforms,includinginternational organizations, multilateral developmentbanksand other organizations, to drive advocacy and engagement strategies.
Advise senior executives on global policy and geopolitical developments affecting the company’sglobalportfolio. Provide insight, guidance, and briefings for senior leadership engagements with government officials globally.
Must Have: Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of15yearsofexperience inthe public sector,international government affairs, trade policy, diplomacy, or related public policy roles; or a minimum of13years of experienceinthe public sector,international government affairs, trade policy, diplomacy, or related public policy roles andan advanced degree
Established network within Washington, D.C., includingthe U.S. Congress,U.S.ExecutiveBranch agencies, diplomatic missions, and trade associations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especiallyregardingpolicy development, analysis,andadvocacy;must be able toclearly and succinctly convey complex informationto various audiences

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$262,500 - $350,000 - $437,500This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico. Base pay is based on numerous factors and may vary by job-related knowledge, skills, experience, etc. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance,Health Savings Account,Healthcare Flexible Spending Account,Life insurance, Long-term disability leave,Dependent daycare spending account,Tuition assistance/reimbursement, andSimple Steps (global well-being program).
