This position is an exciting and new opportunity to work with Medtronic’s Molding and Capital Tooling (MCT) Organization under Operations Innovations (OI) as part of Global Operations and Supply Chain (GOSC).
MCT handles a significant amount of Capital for Technical Projects, in this role, you will be a part of Medtronic’s Enterprise Global Molding & Capital Mold Tooling leadership team within Operations Innovation. You will be responsible for owning and driving all MCT’s Capital Management connected to hundreds of Projects across the Enterprise and with Suppliers and Contract Manufacturing for new Mold Tooling investments.
You will be an individual contributor and will have partnerships with MCT’s engineering teams located globally and with Finance Partners.

A Day in the Life:
Developing budgets, tracking expenditures, and managing funding for complex programs.
Aligns capital projects with overall organizational objectives and growth.
Engages with Engineering Team, Engineering Program Managers and other cross-functional organizations within Medtronic.
Communicates and collaborates with internal teams, external teams, contractors, Suppliers and other cross functions.
Identifies potential Capital risks, mitigating them, and ensuring quality and project standards are met.
Leads and motivates internal and cross-functional teams to deliver complex initiatives.
Creates and used data to drive decisions, monitor progress, and report outcomes.
Manages numerous interconnected project tasks with internal and external team members.
Builds consensus, drives change, and manages high-profile in demanding environments.
Oversees and manages the Capital Expense (CapEx) and Operational Expense (OpEx) aspects of ongoing projects connected to annual operating plans (AOP) and serves as liaison between project teams and finance.
Manages the development and implementation process tied to Capital Metrics and KPI’s.
Reviews status of projects and budgets with Engineering Program Managers and Engineering Project Teams; and prepares Capital status reports.
Monitors progress with Capital Authorization Requests (CAR’s) tied to all Projects.
Assesses Capital project issues and develops resolutions with the Project Teams to meet All KPI’s.
Develop team members in Capital and Business Acumen and driving a diverse and inclusive workforce.
Performs and analyzes financial modeling, economic research, trends and studies subjects such as rates of return, depreciation, working capital, cash flow, investments, and cost against budget, variance analysis, forecasting, financial planning and expense comparisons by analysis of profit and loss statements and/or income statements.
Prepares reports of findings and recommendations, compiles and consolidates financial plans and provides insights to management.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Plans, directs and implements all aspects of the company's design and development of new medical device products or software systems.
- May develop, evaluate, implement and maintain technical quality assurance and control systems or reliability systems and standards pertaining to materials, techniques, or company products.
- Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existing technologies.
- Guides the conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, machines, processes or products.
- Directs the development of new concepts from initial design to market release.
- Manages feasibility studies of the design to determine if capable of functioning as intended.
- Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development.
- Organizes the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery.
- Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONAL CAREER STREAM: Management and supervisory professionals with one or more employees who are focused on tactical, operational and some strategic activities within a specified area. A key responsibility of roles in this career stream is managing people. which includes: accountability for mentoring, developing and coaching staff on meeting/exceeding performance expectations and defined objectives, providing leadership to staff ensuring the prioritization of strategic and department level initiatives to include defining performance goals and targets, conducting performance reviews, and staff 1:1s to guide performance management and employee development efforts and manage toward departmental goals.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires broad management knowledge to lead project teams in one department.
Typically has mastery level knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with broad understanding of other areas within the job function.
-Bachelor’s and 7+ years of Capital, Finance experience related to Projects, Programs or Portfolio Management, OR advanced degree and 5+ years of experience.
- PMP Certification Active is a strong plus.
- MBA in management, finance, or project management is a strong plus.
- Track record of leading Capital Projects of over $50+MM.
- Strong understanding of Business Acumen with Finance focus.
- Power Bi development experience is a strong plus.
- Experience engaging with Molding Suppliers and Contract Manufacturing assembly.
- Solid understanding of Financial Metrics.
- Proficient in developing KPIs tied to financials.
- Strong organizational and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Strong strategic mindset.
