To support our commitment to improving the life of our patients, we are looking for a strong generalist with ability to provide Market Access and Government Affairs support to Medtronic in Central Africa.
We are looking for a Market Access and Government Affairs Lead in Africa who will act a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in market access and policy advocacy. In this role, you will be leading market access strategy and tactics for current and future portfolio, including funding opportunities for new and existing projects. For this position, you can be based in Kenya, as long as you are willing to travel extensively across Central Africa to support access opportunities.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Act as a focal point for engagement with key stakeholders related to Patient and Market Access
- Transfer relevant insights and ad hoc market access opportunity into solid execution plan
- Be responsible for mapping and engagement of relevant government bodies, NGOs, policy makers, and other key stakeholders to influence health policy
- Apply clinical and health economic evidence to support funding of medical technology (public, PPP, donor and other funding)
- Engage in government affairs to support necessary policy changes (Regulatory and Reimbursement)
- Engage in cross-functional work with Commercial, Marketing, Clinical, Regulatory and Strategic Account teams
- Be an expert in market access, policy development and networking with Ministries of Health and related institutions, particularly health insurance companies
- Analyse policy barriers affecting product adoption and commercialization
- Create evidence and advocacy plan to support access projects
- Deliver effective communication related to policy changes, especially related to Regulatory barriers
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Public health, International Development, Health Economics, Policy, or related field
- Minimum of 5–10 years’ experience in public health, market access, health policy, donor engagement, public health program management and funding/resource mobilization
- Strong track record of achieving funding in Central Africa, preferably Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia
- Experience generating or applying health economic evidence to inform policy and program decisions
- Deep understanding of the public health landscape
- Strong network and experience working with Ministries of Health and other government institutions
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively and on short notice
- Fluent in English
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Results-driven and adaptable to dynamic environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multicultural team
