A Day in the Life
Product Lifecycle management is a application team under OU Strategy, Health Care IT, and Product Innovation (OSHIPI) focused on delivering best-in-class support for PLM solutions in our organization. The team specializes in designing and developing configuration and customizations to our PLM systems to meet changing business needs and support data migrations in and out of the systems related to Mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. The PLM team ensures that critical systems remain secure, reliable, and scalable. By partnering closely with stakeholders, the team enables operational excellence and allows the business to focus on driving growth and innovation.
As an IT Technical Business Analyst, you will play a key role in gathering requirements from stakeholders, mapping processes to identify improvement areas, and validating changes to systems based on requirements. This role requires strong communication skills, and reporting competencies complemented by hands-on knowledge of Product lifecycle Management systems.
Your primary responsibility is to support data migrations related to acquisition activities to our PLM systems in addition to supporting enhancements to these systems. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including Mergers and Acquisitions leads, Regulatory, Supplier management and Config assurance to deliver on ever evolving business needs in document management, reporting and change control in PLM systems.
Success in this role requires a strong focus on building relationships with business stakeholders and understanding the process of ETL and organizational change management for data migrations. You will need the ability to analyze source system data and identify gaps that are required for ingestion into our PLM systems. This role requires process knowledge in document management and change control within PLM systems to transfer business requirements to system design for developers on the team. You will ensure our systems meet business needs and stay audit ready through validation activities.
The Application Business Analyst supports key IT transition activities during mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures by ensuring application readiness, data integrity, and process alignment. This role contributes to a smooth transition by facilitating timely communication, coordinating tasks across technical and business teams, and ensuring project milestones are met. Additionally the business analyst will work closely with development and testing team to deliver enhancements and maintenance changes as part of routine system releases. Close collaboration with internal departments, stakeholders, and external consultants is essential to successfully deliver improvements in technology capabilities, operational efficiency, financial management, and business continuity
Roles and Responsibilities
•Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and document requirements for PLM application enhancements and new implementations.
•Analyze business processes and provide recommendations on design approaches to meet business needs, considering system validation requirements.
•Estimate level of effort and cost for PLM-related projects and enhancements.
•Participate in the validation process, ensuring all solutions adhere to validation procedures and regulatory requirements.
•Develop, modify, and optimize SQL queries to generate reports and support data analysis for PLM applications.
•Work closely with IT and business teams to ensure solutions are aligned with business objectives and compliance standards.
•Support testing, troubleshooting, and deployment of PLM solutions.
•Lead and participate in data migration projects, including planning and executing migrations of PLM data, particularly in the context of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful data mapping, cleansing, validation, and migration activities for PLM systems.
•Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in PLM, validated systems, and data migration methodologies.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience as a Business Analyst or similar role supporting PLM applications.
Experience working with validated systems and following validation procedures.
Experience with data migration projects, ideally in the context of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in writing SQL queries and developing reports for PLM applications.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field with 6+ years of hands-on analyst experience.
4+ years working with Product Lifecycle Management systems
Ability to understand the customer's business problem, need, or opportunity and to design a solution that completely and correctly addresses the business problem, need, or opportunity without unnecessary enhancements.
Proven ability to work as a team player, delivering quality results within defined timelines.
Understanding of application lifecycle processes and system integration concepts.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)
•Experience with Agile PLM or Windchill PLM.
•Experience with reporting tools and data visualization for PLM systems.
•Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to validated systems in the medical device or life sciences industry.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in fast-paced, innovative environments.
Demonstrated leadership in achieving shared objectives in a matrix organization, managing cross-divisional initiatives, and cross-functional teams.
