A Day in the Life
In this exciting role as a Process Engineer I, you will have the responsibility of developing new injection molding and assembly processes for Medtronic's portfolio of cardiovascular and neurological products.
This is an in-person role in Brooklyn Center, MN on a high performing team that works cross-functionally with many internal partners in a fast paced work environment. Candidates must be willing to relocate if they do not currently reside within a reasonable commuting distance.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Develops manufacturing processes for Medtronic's portfolio of cardiovascular and neurological products. Examples include injection molding, welding, automated inspection, and assembly. Processes are developed by planning and executing engineering studies to define process inputs that achieve the desired output.
Recommends and implements equipment and process modifications to meet quality standards and improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques as well as production yields for existing products.
Reviews product development requirements for compatibility with processing methods to determine costs and schedules.
Interacts with product design and development personnel to ensure that processes and designs are compatible.
Leads the innovation, development and/or optimization of new manufacturing concepts, processes and procedures for transfer to manufacturing operations. This can include scouting and feasibility work, material selection, process and equipment selection, tooling / fixture and equipment installation and assessment of inputs, outputs and alignment to requirements.
Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, Injection Molding, or Plastics preferred).
Nice to have:
A strong desire to learn new skills and develop as an engineer.
Operations/Manufacturing internship experience with desire to improve existing processes.
Experience with problem solving methodologies (e.g. DMAIC) and ability to contribute to a problem solving team.
Effective communication skills (written and verbal) with ability to engage others well.
Experience with statistical software (JMP, Minitab) and common tools (DOE, ANOVA, Capability)

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$69,600.00 - $104,400.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
